- RE: How to adopt Quicken:Mac ... for good [Appletell]Hi Nigel, your problem could be caused by several reasons. I think the best thing to do here is going to the Intuit Forums for Quicken for Mac and try to find an answer. I've done a quick search and there're a lot of posts about that. Maybe you can relate to one of them or even post this same issue and open a ticket for your particular situation. I hope this helps you to find the way to a solution. Keep in touch!
- Alexa, I think your wishes will be eventually fulfilled. First we have to understand the huge difference there's between a Mac and a phone (even when we talk about the most advanced phone out there), but when it comes to the iPhone you, as a user who wants to get as much as the hole Mac experience as possible, have an advantage over every other platform user: the OS. This particular Apple phone have the core of the main Operative System (OS X). That's maybe something just good now, but the possibilities that it opens for us in the future are mind blowing. One example of this is the new release of the iPhone OS (3.0). There's no way you can get that much improvement in one OS update in any other platform, and there's no way you can get it for free either. I'll give Apple a vote of confidence and I think you'll be pleased to see the mobile platform become more powerful and reliable with time. Things like better battery life, responsiveness, computing power will improve your experience. What it looks like unrealistic today will be the standard way of doing thins in the future.
- @Oxchris Of course that installing betas always comes with a risk, but if the purpose of betas was developer testing, Apple wouldn't post a link in the front page for everyone to follow. In cases like the Safari 4 download, this beta is for everyone who, knowing the possible consequences, would like to see the app in action, and I'm pretty sure that Apple uses us as testers to discover general "minor" errors of the application. What better test field that "out there".. there's no company in the world which can afford test labs with millions of different computers, configurations and environments.
- Well I also like it, and I'll like it even more when it's finished... I've had just one problem so far.. I hope they fix everything soon.
- So far the only problem I've had is when usgin MS Messenger 7.2 in the Mac. Since I installed Safari 4 (both in the iMac and MacBook) the messenger doesn't let me write several messages without having to click again in the text area. I wrote something, click enter.. it sends the message and I start writing again and it doesn't write anything.. I get frustrated as soon as I notice (it happens a lot because my habit is strong), and I click inside the text area to write everything all over again. It's a really annoying problem.. I haven't try uninstalling so far, I'll do it and let you know if anything interesting happens. Cheers
- RE: QuickBooks Online for the iPhone [Appletell]I totally agree with you. Intuit has proven a change of attitude towards our Mac community. They're about to release (summer 2009) a new version of Quicken (http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance/mac-personal-finance.jsp) which promises to change the user experience, providing a real native Mac application. I hope this change of attitude bring us also an iPhone companion to this desktop app. It makes a lot of sense to me. If I hear anything about that, I'll be posting an article on the subject for sure. For now, we can just wait and hope for the best.. ;)
- Fischer, according to Joe (the comment above yours) there's been problems with this software. We have to remember that it's a beta version of it. I'll have to stick to Joe's recommendation and advise you to go and visit Paragon’s site and check out the topics about troubles at the support section. Here you have a link: http://www.paragon-software.com/support/index.html. Thanks for commenting and I hope you have a great experience with the application.
- RE: How to adopt Quicken:Mac ... for good [Appletell]Hola Daniel, no se si te refieres a descargar las transacciones automaticamente desde la red.
- RE: Lockdown: anti-theft system for Mac [Appletell]Hey Luis you're going to love this! It's one of those apps you really really want everyone to know how it works, but you never want to have to use in a serious situation of course. Really neat for sure, install it and let me know how it went for you. I'm sure you're going to have comments about it :-)
- Well I went to the website and it really looks great. I'll test it and maybe we could publish a review. Thanks for the tip, it seems like a very complete and powerful tool. Great choice!
- RE: How to adopt Quicken:Mac ... for good [Appletell]Nicely put. It's a really fair comment.
- Of course I know the cause of the limitation. What I mean is that it's a weird feeling having this restrictions on the Internet. You're used to walls and limitations within countries in a physical way, but in the Internet you're just used to be free to read, see and watch anything, no matter where it comes from. I wouldn't like to see the web turned into an extension of what we have here already.
- Well I tried to access the site, I installed Silverlight on my iMac with no issue to report on that area. What I can tell you about, is that NBC Olympic site leaves not only some Mac users out, but also foreign users out. Even though I could install everything, I could not see a thing because I live in Venezuela. All that content is for US residents only. I wanted to see Michael Phelps' performance and I'll have to do it somewhere else. That can't be right, at least not on the internet. Whay shouldn't I be able to watch a video on the internet? Are they building fences now on the virtual highway? Am I going to be an illegal immigrant on some foreign web site? Would NBC and all the others be asking me to have a VISA to get into their web sites? That was not a pleasant experience for me, I didn't understand it, and boy that's one excluding web page!
- RE: Apple to introduce dedicated movie chips? [Appletell]I'd like to see some of that dedicated chips working. Somehow it makes sense to me. I know right now video cards assume this responsibility, but maybe for some specific tasks it would be reasonable to built specific and dedicated hardware. I guess as always, time will tell and we'll be the ones to gain from Apple's decision making.
- Thanks Luis for your comment. I forgot to put the links on the article. You can find more information about the app at: http://www.yellowmug.com/sk4it/.
- Couldn't agree more... I just got that comment from a friend who finally decided to buy a HP laptop.
- Nice article, I found it very interesting. I think it also would be nice for developers to give customers advantages, which would eventually motivate them into buying more apps from them. Things like free updates (not everytime but it could be random for example), and personalized feedback programs that makes the customer feel a special "part of the team". That kind of exclusive treatment doesn't cost much money to the developer, and makes a stronger bonding with loyal buyers of future apps.
- Wao! Khürt that's one great backup strategy. I guess you're one of the few exceptions out there. I currently use only TC with TM to do the backup of the laptop and desktop. It's my first real backup system since CDs and DVDs. Looking for other system to include in my strategy I found Mozy. If you're already using it I can assume that is a good one. Thanks for your comment.
- RE: VMWare Fusion 2 Beta 2 now available [Appletell]This is a great piece of software, I've been using it since my days in Windows (please don't tell anybody about that), and it always surprises me with outstanding performance and great new features. I've installed this beta 2 and it's working great. VMWare focuses on making the use of Windows great, but I use it a lot with Linux and even though there's no as many great features for it, as there are for the Microsoft OS, it's still a great software for virtualization. My favorite so far without a doubt. Nice article by the way ;)
- RE: How to adopt Quicken:Mac ... for good [Appletell]mrfearless47 you're completely right on that one. I've had my portion of hours going through the internet trying to find some solution for this awful limitation of the software, and even when the most extreme and adventurous users suggest some "hacking" techniques, there's no way to securely port complex structured information (like yours) from Windows to Mac OS. This is just one of the times when virtualization on the Mac really makes sense. In my opinion this is a huge fault from Intuit. I hope they take this matter seriously and eventually release some kind of migration agent on the near future. I guess it all depends on how serious they are about Mac users like us.
- RE: How to adopt Quicken:Mac ... for good [Appletell]Hi Luis, I hope this article helps you to find your way around Quicken. If you need any help you can come back here any time and write again, I'll be glad to help you out. Thanks for the nice comments,
