  • RE: Microsoft's new commercial; epic...fail [Appletell]
Adam, I believe it would have been much better for MIcrosoft to focus on the problems surrounding Vista first. After the issues had been resolved then come out with a commercial admitting this, following it up with releasing commercials that talked about the benefits of the improved Vista. Driver and software compatibility problems still seem to be an issue I use Windows computers along with my Mac computers so yes I've experienced some problems. Several companies who use Windows computers have talked about their issues also. Obviously, this is something that isn't going away so it needs to be resolved. Creating feel good commercials are great but I think they are only effective when the product is working correctly. The commercials I don't believe will make a person want to purchase the OS because the problems are still there. Microsoft has fixed issues before so I it is capable of correcting the issues that has plagued Vista. I just want to see them actually do it. Yes I am tired of Apple's Get A Mac ads too. I do think they were effective but I would like to see Apple use a different approach. @Kirk, The last two commercials did remind me of Apple's "Think Different" ad campaign. I remember Seinfeld made an appearance in that one.
  • RE: Appletell review - KeySkin keyboard protector for Apple keyboards and laptops [Appletell]
Interesting that you wrote a review about keyboard covers. I've been hunting for one for my MacBook Pro. I've stayed away from keyboard covers for the same reason. I just didn't like how they felt however I'll definitely give this one a try.
  • RE: Microsoft's new commercial; epic...fail [Appletell]
Jeff, I was expecting a lot more from Microsoft than what I've been seeing in the commercials. Adam, I get that the ads are about unfair stereotypes. Did we really need a commercial to let us know that? The majority of my friends/acquaintances are Windows user. They are all different. I don't need a commercial to tell me that. :-) I would have liked to see Microsoft write about the benefits of Windows Vista, but we aren't seeing that (at least not yet.)
  • RE: Microsoft cuts off Seinfeld commercials; John Hodgman look-alike takes over [Appletell]
Stucco, Initially (before I heard about Seinfeld being part of the deal), I thought Microsoft was going to do that then I thought "Nah people will just slam them for copying off of Apple. The Seinfeld and Gates duo were straight out of a Seinfeld episode. I think I've seen every one of those episodes. Some parts of the commercial made me chuckle but it didn't make me think of Microsoft. I thought Microsoft was way off in selling themselves in the commercial. Then again, perhaps what Microsoft wanted? People to talk about the commercial and wonder what the heck the commercial was about. :-). I'm curious to see what happens with the fake Hodgman. I wonder if Seinfeld was able to keep all the money he was given for doing the commercials. I believe his contract with Microsoft was ten million dollars. Obviously, Microsoft has a lot more in store for us it reportedly is spending 300 million dollars on advertising.
  • RE: WALL*E movie opens, Apple references abound [Appletell]
Khürt, I always get a kick out of Apple references in movies. Although not a huge fan of Sex & The City I thought it was cool that Carrie, and other cast members used Macs, along with other products, in the series. I'll definitely purchase WALL*E when it is available in iTunes.
  • RE: The future of the Macbook Air, and why you shouldn't buy one...yet [Appletell]
If I still worked in the corporate setting where I traveled across the U.S. several times each month, this would have been a non-issue I would have purchased it. I didn't want to lug around a bigger computer, and I definitely didn't need something that had all the bells & whistles as my MacBook Pro. I do attend a lot of meetings and would really like something slim that I could fit into a larger bag or purse. I used to carry around a PDA but I wanted a larger screen. Oc course the MacBook Air is not meant to be a replacement for your primary computer. Its main target is the busy professional/road warrior. A few of my friends have the MacBook Air. They love it. Will Apple change the target audience? Perhaps, or they might make something similar and add additional features. I like what I see with the MacBook Air. I'm renting a MacBook Air next month if I like it I'll purchase one when the next update rolls around. If you are an employee or, a student or working in education you can get a discount. A few years ago I decided to go back to school to receive up another degree thanks to Apple's education discount I've saved over $1000 easily on My Mac computers and software applications. Apple is always pushing the envelope. Apple isn't always first when it comes to new technology (multi-touch is a good example) but many people remember Apple because of how it incorporates current technology into the products made.
  • RE: Kid Rock gives iTunes the cold shoulder [Appletell]
I guess I'm not understanding his logic how is he making a stance if he is eventually going to allow his music to be sold on iTunes? I haven't listened to Kid Rock in years had no idea he was still on the scene.
  • RE: WWDC Keynote live blog [Gadgetell]
I'm looking forward to it! Just waiting for it to start, Come on Apple open up the iPhone to other mobile carriers.
  • RE: New 1Password makes autosave easier, updates password generator [Appletell]
I've been using this software application for almost a year. It's well worth the money I spent. I use a lot of websites that require passwords, and I'm able to create complicated ones thanks to this application.
  • RE: iMac, Jr. [Appletell]
I saw that and I really like it, of course that means I would have to upgrade ad buy an iPod touch. I'm planning on buying one ,eventually. I'm rapidly running out of storage page on my current iPods.
  • RE: Is Apple set to change .Mac to Me.com? [Appletell]
Harvey, LOL that is funny. I thought the same thing when I heard "Me" yet another thing to slam Apple about. It's all about me. As much as I like the company, many of it products, fabulous customer service at times I do think they need to work on how people perceive them. Then again with a name like that people will be talking about it. Perhaps that is what they want? ;-)
  • RE: Is Apple set to change .Mac to Me.com? [Appletell]
GrimWit, I'm not too impressed with the name either. Now that I think of it I don't like the name MacBook Air. It makes me wonder what group is coming up with these names at Apple? In my opinion they fail!
  • RE: Christmas to Come Early [Appletell]
I am looking forward to a Tablet Mac, but I don't think we'll be seeing it this year. I would love to see it at the Mac Expo 2009 however that could be wishful thinking on my part. Sighs, one can dream, right? ;-) Eventually, I do think we'll see a change in the MacBook case I'm thinking Apple will eventually switch to anodized aluminum just like the other Macs. I don't expect to see that until the next Mac Expo. The iMac was the last one to get the makeover. I do think we'll see some changes with the MacBook Air later this year. I've been eyeing it for a while but will hold off to see what Apple has in store.
  • RE: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.5.3; Recommended for all Leopard users [Appletell]
Peya, I hope the update fixes your issues.
  • RE: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.5.3; Recommended for all Leopard users [Appletell]
I still haven't installed Leopard on my 17" MacBook Pro. I have been dragging my feet regarding the installation and yes I'm a multi-tasker. Initially, I was going to wait until I updated my MacBook Pro when the big upgrade comes out. I usually wait a few months, definitely not an early converter, but most likely I'll just move on to Leopard for this computer.
  • RE: Glimpse at the Future or Bad Photoshop Job? [Appletell]
It doesn't look as though they changed the design too much. I cannot wait to see what the new iPhone looks like. I still haven't purchased an iPhone yet. I'm waiting for other carriers to get the service. I travel several times each year to South Carolina. AT&T;service in the areas I visit isn't great. I love the iPhone 0805 design, but I prefer the rounded corners. I'm not a big fan of the square design but that is minor I could live with it. :-)
  • RE: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.5.3; Recommended for all Leopard users [Appletell]
Same here, I wasn't looking for this update until after the WWDC.
