- RE: Apple blows it on October 14th [Appletell]Totally agree. They should kill the white MacBook and drop the price of the new ones to $999.
- Is there a live vid of the show anywhere?
- I had the same issue. I had more songs on my iPod then I did on my computer, and I didn't want to lose those songs when I got my new iPod. I did some research, and found that Senuti was the way to go. Senuti is merely a program that lets you transfer songs from your iPod to your Computer, thus keeping all songs in a transfer. I've found it to be totally safe, and am quite satisfied with the program so far.
- RE: What Apple TV needs to change to be wanted [Appletell]I see. In that case, I would definitely say go with the Mac Mini and not the Apple TV.
- RE: What Apple TV needs to change to be wanted [Appletell]I find that TiVo is more then enough for me, in terms of home theater needs. I never miss a show, I can rent movies from a rather decent selection, and its all in one package. On the increasingly rare occasion that I rent a movie that isn't on Pay-Per-View, I usually go to iTunes and watch it on my Laptop, or (get this) I actually go to a store and actually rent a hard copy.
- RE: Increased royalties could shut down iTunes [Appletell]I seriously don't think that the iTunes Music Store is going anywhere, at least any time soon. Apple is just too invested in keeping it running to not suffer a greater loss by shutting it down or divesting in it then to keep it around for a while until they can work out the profitability issues.
- The WooHoo button, however hilarious, is probably the most pointless app I can think of. All it is is a big button that, when pushed, makes a loud exclamation of WOOHOO!
- RE: My Hopes for a Notebook Refresh [Appletell]If the specs of the MBP line was increased in a comparable amount to the MB line, I think that blurring could be avoided. I don't think that the MBP line would be discontinued, unless the MacBook became 15". But I think that Apple will keep the size diversity of the MacBook and the MacBook Pro.
- RE: Appletell Review - iTunes 8 [Appletell]I've eliminated possibility of it being the mouse's fault. I used iTunes with the trackpad, and a friend's newer Mighty Mouse, and still, about half the time, it plays the album from the start instead of going to the song list. The only thing that I can think of now is a software glitch, but from what I've heard, it's obviously not very common.
- RE: Appletell Review - iTunes 8 [Appletell]Not that I know of.
- RE: Appletell Review - iTunes 8 [Appletell]Forgot to add this- I don't have any TV Shows/Podcasts/Movies that I could test the grid feature with. I find that if I am going to own a movie or a season of a TV show, I would rather have it on a DVD so that it doesn't take up space on my already limited (80GB) hard drive.
- RE: Appletell Review - iTunes 8 [Appletell]The double click issue is still present, but I think it may be partially due to my mouse. My mighty mouse is fairly old and worn, and thus may be inhibiting clicking. This may be the issue, but I'm not 100% due to the fact that it still happens (albeit not as often) when I'm using the trackpad.
- @scottylans: I think that a nano-sized touch would be too hard to work with. I really have no clue what the new version will look like, nor will I (or want to) speculate. I think it will be a pleasant surprise when the announcement comes around.
- To find "Show Package Contents", right click on any application in Finder. The pop-up menu has it. It is under "Open" and above "Move to Trash".
- Were Apple to lose this case, the loses would not just be monetary. A lose would open the floodgates to the other little start-up tech companies that have followed Psystar's example and attempted to sell inexpensive Mac clones. Not many have been even slightly successful, but a loss would be more ammo for them to get a chunk of Apple's market share.
- Warning to Apple- None of your products will ever be purchased by me if you stoop to the level of the rumored Nano design. IT IS AWFUL. Stick with the current design for at least another half a year. I would really like my 3rd gen. Nano to not be outdated for at least that long at the very least.
- First of all, people rarely have all the details in line when they make predictions like this. iTunes 8 may surface, and iPods may be reduced in price, but I don't think the iPod Nanos will be updated Secondly, I will never buy an Apple product ever again in this lifetime or the next if the rumored iPod Nanos are as they have been rumored to be. They are the most god-awful thing EVER. And I thought that Apple was leaning away from the Long-And-Slender design? Is that not the reason why the Nano looks like it does now? And personally, I think the current Nanos are pretty pretty. Especially in green.
- I'm quaking in my boots. Bring it.
- RE: It's official: MobileMe is a flop [Appletell]I agree that MobileMe has some small flaws but I definitely do not agree that narcissism and reminders of Windows ME are the biggest issues. The price is pretty darn good, and the system works pretty well and will probably work even better once Apple gets the launch kinks ironed out. Are there any other issues that you could point out that weren't mentioned here?
- RE: Details on all the new Snow Leopard features [Appletell]I won't get it if its any more then $65 for a single license
- RE: Details on all the new Snow Leopard features [Appletell]Yeah, she's a beauty. My only complaint is the name. I do understand that it is just Leopard with a snowy dusting of speed and security, but I was hoping for something like Lynx or Cougar
- RE: Leopard, almost like it should have been [Appletell]While we have your attention, Mac Intosh, great job on the iTunes theme. I use it too, and it is a great step up from the old stuff.
- RE: Psystar releases Server-Grade Machine. [Appletell]I commend Psystar for trying, but their attempts are quite futile. One of the biggest benefits to getting a Macintosh is quality, so unless that, reliability, and confirmation that the company providing your computer could disappear at any moment don't matter to you, stay far away from Psystar at all costs.
- RE: We all love Steve Jobs...well, 91% of us [Appletell]I think that Steve will die before he "steps down"
- RE: Is 8GB enough for the iPhone 3G? [Appletell]Well, I doubt that many apps will be very big. Apple may even be limiting the size.
- RE: Kid Rock gives iTunes the cold shoulder [Appletell]OMG! Whatever shall we do?!?!?! No Kidrock?!?!?! The Horror!!!!! :D
- RE: Citigroup and Lehman up Apple predictions [Appletell]The new 3G iPhone will cost $199 for 8 GB. The old iPhone never went below $399 for 8 GB.
- RE: iPhone Flash confirmed (by Adobe) [Appletell]The main reason why Apple hasn't already authorized flash is because the Mobile version isn't enough and the Desktop version is too much. If Adobe could create something in between, which they claim to be working on, I think that Apple will welcome it with open arms. Apple hasn't said anything about whether or not they will allow it yet, and this article doesn't say that. It merely confirms that Adobe is in fact working on a version of Flash specifically for the iPhone.
- RE: iPhone Flash confirmed (by Adobe) [Appletell]Well, the mere fact that it was confirmed by none other then the CEO should make you think twice. If it had been confirmed by some no-name underling of his, then I would start to doubt. I don't think that Shantanu Narayen would give out a fairly big piece of information like that without having something to back the claims up.
- RE: Mac Gems announces Gem a Day [Appletell]I actually went back and edited a few parts. You were right.
- RE: Mac Gems announces Gem a Day [Appletell]Yeah, it does read a little weird, but the Mac Gems blog will have a daily post until mid August with a new free or inexpensive piece of Mac software.
- @ Adam: That could work, but then something would have to be done to the Nanos and thus to the Shuffles as well (maybe something like $99 and $149 for the Nanos and maybe take $10 off the Shuffles)
- Forgot to add this: If the iPod Touch was increased to 32 GB and dropped to around $125, I think that the best plan would be for Apple to drop the Shuffle and slash the Nano prices to closer to a Shuffle's current prices. The Classics could stay the same, maybe drop $50 from both.
- I think that Apple really put themselves in a tough place by making the iPhone so much cheaper. They could easily get away with charging more and their is really nothing Apple can do to help the iPod Touch without screwing themselves in that arena. I think that the best plan would be to have a 32 GB for around $125 and a 64 GB for $199. Maybe add a camera. Something has to be done to appeal to the people who don't want the phone but could pay less to get it.
- RE: iPhones used in Craigslist scam [Appletell]Yeah, but in the end, no matter how terrible, it is a true testament to the iPhone's popularity.
- RE: Adobe porting Java SWT to Cocoa Touch [Appletell]Read the post I linked to. That should answer your questions.
- RE: Apple Cinema Displays: Epic. Fail. [Appletell]Maybe comparing a Dell and an Apple display wasn't the fairest of comparisons, but this post wasn't really to say which display is better, but rather to make the point that there are certain displays out there that are just as good if not better then the Apple displays for less money. The "Epic Fail" is more in terms of how long it has taken Apple to upgrade them (We are coming up on the current design's 4th year) and how overpriced they are. For much less, I could get a display with better response time and a better contrast ratio, like this Samsung.
- Thanks for the clarification.
- How is this possible if you cannot get a phone without a plan? Anyway, why would someone pay extra for a phone that won't even ship until the same day that they could get it in a store for much less money? Last time i checked, the auctions were well above $600. Someone is about to get ripped off big time.
- Yeah, I bought the bundle when it first came available for the same price and about half the apps. Of those few apps that it came with, I only use about half of them on a regular basis. I think that the bundle is much better now then it was when I bought it. Strangely, Enigmo, one of the apps in the bundle, was a free goody back when MacHeist actually had Heists.
