My joy for writing came shortly after I bought my first iMac from Apple. Since that day, I have had a love for all things Apple and have loved writing about their company.  The tech industry is a fascinating field to be involved in, and I’m glad to be part of it.

  • RE: Appletell reviews Sonos ZonePlayer S5 with ZoneBridge wireless music system [Appletell]
Laztel, I realize that I didn't really discuss the audio quality much. However, this is because the Sonos system is so much more than just audio quality. From a $399 product, you can almost assume the audio quality is going to be just as good, if not better, from any Bose or similar speaker system (keeping in mind this is only one speaker, not surround sound). And yes, it was outstanding. However, I felt as if focusing more on how the Sonos interacts with the music ecosystem in your house was more important. The way it fits right into and complements your existing music library and iPhone as a controller is what the Sonos has that puts it about the other available systems on the market. If it were just based on audio quality, you could almost go and purchase any speaker more than $199 and be happy. Hope this helps you understand where I was coming from!
  • RE: Appletell reviews PushGmail for iPhone, iPod Touch [Appletell]
Fetch will certainly draw a lot more battery from your device as it constantly checks the feed to see if their are new items. With Push, your phone doesn't have to do anything until some code on the server side of the application sends a message, almost like a text, to your device.
  • RE: iPhone OS on a large touchscreen monitor [Appletell]
I'm with you on that one. In fact, there has been recent new that it has been confirmed fake I believe (which I'm sure didn't take much investigating).
  • RE: App Store Development Part 2: Provisioning and Ad Hoc [Appletell]
Hey Mike, Did you send him the Ad Hoc provisioning profile that he needs? It may be checking for that and not finding it. I myself haven't run into this issue but that could be the problem.
  • RE: App Store Development Part 1: The iPhone SDK and XCode [Appletell]
It's a card counting game, I plan to make many more apps. There will be more information about it in my next post of this series. The website can be found at: http://joshholat.com/cardcounter/index.php
  • RE: First German Apple store to open in Munich, Germany, says "Guten tag!" [Appletell]
That's a really cool picture, thanks Willy!
  • RE: Microsoft creating an iPhone competitor? [Appletell]
@Quikboy I could have made it more clear, but in the second sentence it says, "If this rumor is... true"
  • RE: Goodman iPod Boombox touts 7 inch LCD display [Appletell]
@Emily: I am pretty sure it works with both the 2G and 3G iPod Nano.
  • RE: iPhone 2.0 software now available [update] [Appletell]
Andrew: You can manually update the software using the post I wrote about the early 2.0 leak about yesterday. However, downloading the 2.0 software from Apple is going to take a very long time no matter what you do. You may be better off waiting until this whole mess is cleared up.
  • RE: iPhone 2.0 software now available [update] [Appletell]
Jon: I'm doing the same thing, waiting for it to activate. Twitter is a highly addictive social networking site that consists of short messages to answer the questions, "What are you doing?" Check it out at twitter.com, you will become addicted.
  • RE: iPhone 2.0 software now available [update] [Appletell]
Jon: I would try out Twitterific (if you like Twitter) as well as the Remote application made by Apple. Also, the AOL Streaming Radio is sort of neat.
  • RE: You can get the iPhone 2.0 software now! [Appletell]
@Antman: My bad, I didn't realize it until now, but you are probably using a Windows machine. Hold down Alt (Option for Macs) on your keyboard and then click the updates button with your mouse. That should do it.
  • RE: You can get the iPhone 2.0 software now! [Appletell]
@Antman: You don't double click the package. You Option+Click the "Check for Updates" in iTunes and then navigate where to the package is located. Then you hit open, and it should start doing its thing. It does take about five minutes to install.
  • RE: Is the new MacBook Pro design is upon us? [Appletell]
@Mike: This was a prototype version, and I'm almost 100% positive they won't be. There will be an Apple logo their either way, though.
  • RE: Apple and China Mobile make up, reach iPhone agreement [Appletell]
@sfmitch - You are absolutely right, I overlooked how 9%, such a little number, really meant a huge amount of people. Thank you for catching that.
  • RE: Will you wait in line for the iPhone 3G? [Appletell]
I also plan on upgrading, the only thing stopping me is the higher data plan. Also, I don't live in a major city, so I most likely won't get 3G speeds anyways. But I have Wi-Fi in both of my houses, so 3G isn't necessary.
  • RE: MacBook Air paves its own path, creates new subcatergory of notebooks [Appletell]
Don: If I'm not mistaken, that is a MacBook Air.
  • RE: WWDC Keynote live blog [Gadgetell]
That's pretty daring of you Shawn. That would be awesome, though. It'll start any minute now guys!
  • RE: What's the best way to get kicked out of an Apple Store? [Appletell]
I never even thought about that, that could/would be much worse in my opinion.
  • RE: Appletell Video Review: Hazel, the Housekeeper for Mac OS X [Appletell]
Great review, Adam, Hazel looks awesome!
  • RE: Apple's worst product to date; the Mighty Mouse [Appletell]
You guys are correct in that it's very ergonomic, I love how it fits into my palm. However, as many of you pointed out and agreed with, the main flaw in the device is how to solve the problem of dirt clogging the track wheel. It may have been a little strong to call it Apple's "worst product," but it shows that it could use a little work.
  • RE: What apps do you hope to see with the iPhone SDK? [Appletell]
I never really thought about it, but Coverflow for contacts would be awesome. It would be neat to see your friends photos fly by as you are looking for the one to call or text.
  • RE: iTunes is pushing a revolution! The switch to digital media [Appletell]
You bring up some very good points price wise that I overlooked and nice research. However, one extra benefit of having a monthly cable plan is being able to watch TV pretty much whenever you want, as there is most always something interesting on. Sure people may subscribe to one or two shows on iTunes, but how many random shows do people watch on TV just because they are on and they have nothing to do?
  • RE: What I really want to see on the next iPhone [Appletell]
First off, this point may be obvious, but it should have been open to begin with. Now, as for your point, there has been speculation that the second generation iPhone may not be on the same exclusivity deal as the first. Highly unlikely, but a possibility. We won't know until the offiicial announcement.
  • RE: Canada, you may finally be getting Apple's iPhone, you can now rejoice! [Appletell]
Thanks for doing an outside investigation, I look forward to seeing with what he comes up with!
  • RE: Why a Microsoft store would never be as successful as Apple stores [Appletell]
You make some great points, especially with the MS Surface. That would even draw me into the store. I didn't mean to make it sound like Microsoft COULDN'T do it, just that it might be tough for them. I'm sure it would have a great draw for business people who may be, for example, looking for a new Window's Mobile phone or something. Either way, it will be interesting to see how they handle the store if they do, in fact, even make them.
