| Bio: | While watching Steve Jobs intro the iPhone a couple of January’s ago with 3 browsers open so I could get the very latest from the live bloggers, I realized I had a problem. Thanks to Gadgetell, I now have a fiscally justifiable addiction. I write for Dabbledoo sites as well as print publications such as Prominent Magazine and regional travel publications. |

- Dave, if you have an iPhone check out RunKeeper (runkeeper.com). It will do both running and cycling, keeping them automatically sync'd online. A real sweet app a couple of us Gadgetellers use.
- I am seeing that price now as well. When I wrote the post, I got $179 when I put it in the cart, looks like they ended the promotion. Sorry.
- I'd bet the Pixi and the 1.3 update will come together.
- Nope, from what I see it is pretty involved. Perhaps Palm will provide an over-the-air option soon.
- RE: Who's on Crack in Tech: 10.30.09 [Gadgetell]and here I thought no one would get my Jay and Silent Bob reference. Nice pick up.
- RE: Did the Pre save Palm? [Gadgetell]Vara, thanks for the data and good points. Perhaps a better question is "did the Pre roll the webOS ball enough to get it to critical mass". Regardless of which question is better, I feel you got the answer right: we'll have a much better idea in 4-6 months.
- Try the link to PalmInfoCenter at the bottom of the post.
- RE: Will Flash be iPhone's downfall? [Gadgetell]Um, thanks. Really? I'd love to watch hulu on my iPhone. As more and more content is delivereed this way it could start to affect how much we idolize the iPhone.
- RE: Is Walmart trying to kill the Zune HD? [Gadgetell]Wow, Tyler. Nothing on display huh? High crime area?
- Yep, I am with you - I want there to be something here. We'll find out shortly I guess. Thanks for reading
- Ray, do you by chance design sneakers for a living? haha. When was the last time you made a collage of web images? I haven't since like kindergarten. I get some folks (designers) might do this all the time, but for the rest of us, it just doesn't seem to make sense yet. Gosh, I wish it would make sense as the things are darn sexy.
- RE: Is Walmart trying to kill the Zune HD? [Gadgetell]Thanks for confirming guys. Anyone been to a Best Buy lately? Same story (non-working Zunes on display)?
- RE: Microsoft's Courier has a stylus problem [Gadgetell]I freely admit my bias: I hate styli. I am tired of MS trying to get me to love them. Count Palm in too, but palm realized this and made up for it. My handwriting skills have decayed to a point where no recog program is going to decipher it. The only time I put ink to paper is where there is an "X". I recall graffiti trying to get me to make letters just so, look where that ended up. I just don't see a stylus being the data input method of choice.
- overstressed. Good point. It will be interesting to see what the rumor pink consumer phones do and how much MS pours into them. I also neglected to mention maybe MS saw this as a way to stop Google from getting into that business too.
- RE: Blazing fast news from Google's Fast Flip [Gadgetell]check the link that says "Fast Flip" at the end of the post or http://fastflip.googlelabs.com/
- Shawn, I can't confirm or deny the report of the Zune HD being Mac compatible. Let's say the chart isn't an error. OK?
- RE: Enterprise Mac vs. PC; at what cost? [Gadgetell]Matt, thanks for taking on the internet to defend Windows. This piece is a bit dated, being 17 months old and all but cool. I am pretty sure I did not tell you to get a Mac Pro. I didn't even mention your name, Matt, although, sure it was implied that everyone should obviously go buy a Macbook Pro, duh. You totally should have gotten a Mac Book dude. Then you'd be off living your iLife, not defending Windows for the net. Keep rockin
- Luey, you're spot on. This 3rd party hack can't change the lack of predictive type and I too found the entry line under the virtual keyboard troubling, but it seems limited as it is shown at 6:17 on the 2nd video with entry above. This isn't Palm's solution, so there is hope to fix these two things. I believe the wallpaper is the old Mac icon/logo thing. http://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:kLdXpFJGcXvlLM:http://www.slotsgeek.com/slots/mac/images/MacLogo.jpg
- RE: Windows Mobile App man switches to iPhone [Gadgetell]Kevin, thanks for the comment. The concern I have is if Windows Mobile apps are all $9.99 and the most popular apps on the iPhone are free or $.99, another obstacle gets thrown up in consumers mind. No question developers should get paid. With the breadth of iPhone apps, I wonder how MS will find a "big hit" app to wow us. BTW, the findwell site is quite well done.
- RE: Windows Mobile working on double threat [Gadgetell]Krishna, fair question. I'll do you one more, what has come of the Danger acquisition? Was that really just for back end stuff? Seems like a lot of lost opportunities. 2010 is a ways off, we're sure to see an update from Apple plus who knows how many more iterations of Android.
- Hey tusker, what if I am both a buyer and supplier? Would I find myself?
- I hear you guys. @Benji, I actually went back to see if the Verizon guy said a webOS phone instead of Pre. But no, the dude said Pre. Pre 2? Pre S? I agree, Palm can start to spin off iterations to please both keyboard needy and touchscreen sporto-s. webOS is the bigger danger. @Dan and Vara, thanks for the input on how the Pre is working for you. It is good to hear about the upside of Palm doing bold (if not desperate) things.
- RE: Palm Pre to get battery with 2x life? Sweet. [Gadgetell]aww come on Benji. Next post will be about how webOS 1.04 will suck your battery dry. Why should the Pre be any different than my iPhone?
- Horrible photos. Must have been taken with an iPhone 3G, huh?
- John, that sounds pretty seamless. Thanks!
- What a waste. When I read a post titled, "Voice in your head..." I expect some kind of well thought out reasoning to help me make sense of all this hype. At least, that is what happens when I listen to the other voices in my head. The update to iPhone 3.0 is fine but by no means awesome. There was a reason it took Apple two years to get to this stuff.
- Spoon, thanks for your giggles as well. "Run with it"? Yep, I was so bold as to end the post with a question mark.
- RE: Google’s down? Don’t panic. [updated] [Gadgetell]Google products working fine for me. Sorry for you.
- Fair point COCO. Let's say I meant out-the-door price?
- GG, appreciate the reply. Too often comments are drive bys... I think your views are held by many regarding MS and Palm. I know I share them anyway. I'll be here wading through the rumors and speculation with you. Thanks again for the comments.
- GG, Some fair points. I prefaced my take with "my take:". It is not a rumor. Speculation, yes. I would debate that I "should know better...". MS is aware of its inferior product but chooses to ignore it. And that frustrates the heck out of me. Most merger/buyouts create internal mayhem. The buy would be about grabbing something that looks to be a rising star with both hands. Does anyone really believe something special is coming from MS in WinMo 7? I've stopped believing that. And yes, the twitter acct was fake.
- Nicely done Jodie! Can't wait for the next one.
- RE: What would a Verizon iPhone look like? [Gadgetell]CJ, haha. True, a large part of the success of the iPhone has been AT&T is almost invisible to the user. Sure a few calls dropped here and there, bars that go from 4 down to 1 in two steps and others. Do you think Apple would agree to messing with the "experience" that much? It is not a rhetorical question...
- Alfie, spot on. I intended to include the touch in there and lost it as I wrote. Thank you for pointing out it should have been included in the discussion. I am not sure an Apple introduction would shine any light on MIDs, rather I think it would suck any glimmer on MIDs and send it all to Apple's tablet and netbook competitors. As each day passes, I am coming to accept Apple isn't going to release something like this. It is middle ground between phones and laptop/desktop. I am not sure how big that market is and whether a $600+ entry would gain ground there. Do you think it would?
- RE: What would a Verizon iPhone look like? [Gadgetell]Terry, something tells me you are no where near alone on that.
- tell us more iou. We're all listening.
- RE: Who's on Crack in Tech: Good Friday edition [Gadgetell]Hi Maria, thanks for the kind words. I believe a lot of folks are echoing your sentiment on the Kindle 2. Thanks for reading!
- RE: App Stores are doomed, except Apple's [Gadgetell]Synthmeister, well put. I neglected to touch on the hardware, thanks for adding that to the discussion. Thanks.
- RE: Who's on Crack in tech: 3.20.09 [Gadgetell]Going to have to disagree with you Mark. For what I used XM for Pandora blows doors on it. I can create stations with music and artists I liked vs. XM who simply had me get into a box and listen within the confines. As I said, I was a casual listener. Perhaps you hold Sirius/XM stock?
- @R the event was quickly orchestrated, not the tech presented at it. We were not given much notice and Apple held it purely to screw with Palm. Fair game. @slappy - Apple fanboy site is one click to Appletell.com
