- Over 20,000 now.
- sfmitch - thank you for your comment. You have hit the nail on the head and explained it much better than I had attempted.
- I bought one in April and love this little thing to death. It's not about about the processing power, the storage, the lack of an optical drive.. it's about portability. I have a 13 inch macbook as well and the difference in size and weight may seem minimal to some, but 2lbs less on your shoulder makes a big difference. I know a lot of people don't get it... "you can buy a macbook pro for like $200 more thats 3x as powerful!!!" - it's a lifestyle choice. Sure a Honda civic gets me from point A to point B as much as a brand new Audi R8 would, but the beauty of the R8 vs. the honda is incomparable.
- Apple won't be dropping the price. It makes no sense for them to do so. Currently they're giving away 8GB iPod touches to all students who buy a mac for back to school. This is Apple's way of clearing stock before September when they do their iPod updates. Apple will get rid of the 8GB touch and introduce the 16GB at the current price point, and the 32GB at the current 16GB price point. 16GB touch - $299, 32GB touch - $399, possible 64GB touch - $499 (though I doubt this will come in september). Someone mentioned that when you look at the Touch vs the iPhone, it's fairly obvious the iPhone is the better buy - it's the touch and a phone. Apple wants you to buy the iPhone instead of the touch. They make more money off of the iPhone over the 2 years in your contract than they do from selling you 1 touch for $299.
- Fido does this (Fido is part of Rogers), but they have $7 'unlimited browsing' for their phones. The thing is, Rogers will never have 'unlimited data' on any plan - which they've said before. It really sucks because they have the GSM monopoly in Canada.
- A 32GB version would be great. Too bad the contracts are expensive, I don't even want to see what the Canadian contracts will be like with Rogers...
- rmaspero: I have no idea how Apple picks its carriers, perhaps O2 offered them more money for each phone contract sold? Maybe O2 is bigger than Vodafone in the UK? I'm not sure. The Rogers phone is expected sometime this year, but I have a feeling I'll be purchasing an iPhone before that and unlocking it myself.
- RE: Steve Jobs still loves Intel [Appletell]Doug, I think by 'intelligence' he means, patents and the knowledge they have in the market place. I'm sure they'll do more with the company other than just strip ideas, but Apple likes to own its properties (like it does with its music). I don't think licensing a certain feature from a company will ever really be used unless necessary from Apple. They really like to own their stuff and call it theirs and only theirs - so no one else can use it.
- RE: iPod Shuffle gets new splash of color [Appletell]I totally agree, I would definitely buy a jet-black set of Apple products :)
- Jim, I agree 100%. But I think it will take some cooperation of both sides for us to see a move. Sony needs to relax a little on some stuff and Apple needs to get their ass in gear :P
- RE: My AppleCare experience [Appletell]My AppleCare hasn't quite paid for itself yet, but its gotten me a new battery for my MacBook (worth about $150) and then a brand new keyboard, inside bezel, touch pad, etc. Mine cracked and they replaced it without an issue. Its nice to have some peace of mind as Chris said. But I hope I don't have any other issues with it, I like it to work, but the fact that if it did break somehow, they would fix it or give me a whole new unit makes me feel better about my purchase.
- Andrew, First off, thank you for your input and we'll fix the issues mentioned. But, in the end, we're only human and we do make mistakes. Also, please note that the text you mentioned is a quote, and we don't change quoted text in any way.
- RE: Sometimes Apple stuff doesn't 'just work' [Appletell]I agree with you 100%. "it just works" is pretty much false advertising, sure its easier than others, but there are still many problems. One of my biggest issues since I became a Mac user has been with WiFi.
