BBC America shows added to iTunes Store
BBC America TV shows have just been added to the US iTunes Store. There are only three shows at this point in time, but expect more to be on their way:
- Torchwood (Series 1 and 2)
- Little Britain (Series 3 only)
- Robin Hood (Series 2 only)
This small collection of shows is available for the usual $1.99 per show - buying entire seasons can vary in cost, but is usually slightly cheaper than buying episode-after-episode. This is still very limited, and what I would call not worth paying for. But I guess if you don’t have access to the BBC World channel, or you want it on your computer/iPod/iPhone - then this is the way to go. If you’re in the UK, you’ll have a much wider variety of choice; including the BBC’s own iPlayer - which lets you catch-up on shows every 7 days. This service is also available for streaming on iPhones and iPod Touches in the UK.

California Democrats look to tax iTunes downloads
California citizens could soon see their iTunes song prices rise from the usual $0.99 to $1.07. iTunes is the USA’s second-largest music retailer, shortly behind Wal-Mart. The current California laws limit taxing goods to only real-life objects, e.g. a CD - digital music files obviously aren’t real-life objects and can’t be taxed. The state is currently facing an $8 million deficit, and is looking to iTunes to get some income.
I agree with MacDailyNews’ take on this issue - is it really Apple’s fault that California is facing this deficit, or did they do it themselves by spending way too much. They shouldn’t be taxing the citizens for something that’s the democrats’ own fault. Is this another reason not to buy music from the iTunes Store?

Mint dispensing iPhone
Those of us who are living in any place that isn’t the United States of America (which recent surveys state is about 6,432,976,215 people) still haven’t received any iPhone love yet. If you don’t have an iPhone but wish you could say you were cool like Spike Lee or Dan Moren, and also could use fresher breath, this could be the solution you have been looking for.
Neatorama has a set of instructions on how you can convert an tin of Altoids into an iPhone. This iPhone solution only costs about $2, and is aptly named the iToid. All you need to make your iPhone dreams come true is a can of Altoids, and a picture of an iPhone that will fit on the front (which Neatorama provides).
Sure people might be suspicious when you open your iPhone up and take a mint out of it, but you can just tell them that you have an early production model of the next generation iPhone. Who doesn’t want a phone, iPod and break-through internet device that can also freshen your breath?
