MacBook Air? Hope not…

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Jan 14, 2008 at 09:46 AM

MacBook Air
9to5Mac posts a summary of the “MacBook Air” rumors and a history of the name.

Most importantly, it makes note that one of their readers found reference to a “MacBook Air” in one of Adium’s usage log reports. This was then verified from a Google Cache, which revealed that the entry was made before the revelation of the MacWorld posters on January 9th.

Therefore we can conclude that there are one of two outcomes:

1. The MacBook Air is real - our details may be off slightly but the name is real.

2. Either Apple or someone with knowledge of the Macworld 2008 ‘There is something in the air slogan’ 2 weeks ago sent the rumor sites false info and went to a few websites with public logs with a browser hacked to show “MacBookAir” as machine-type.

The second seems more likely to me, as “MacBook Air” just does not seem like a name that Apple would use, and on a personal level, I loathe it. More likely, I think is that the “Air” on the posters is referring to some sort of WiMax partnership that involve their new sub-notebooks, and perhaps the entire notebook line.

MacWorld Posters: There’s Something In The Air

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Jan 11, 2008 at 06:32 PM

Matte Banner

Sporting a light version of Apple’s Myriad Pro font, the Macworld 2008 posters are mysterious as always, proclaiming that “there’s something in the air.“

A logical guess would be that there will be wireless advancements, including movie rentals from iTunes streamed wirelessly. Then again, it could have nothing to do with wireless at all. These posters are sure to fuel speculation and guesses all over the internet for the remaining 3 days until MacWorld.

First Snapshots from WWDC 2007

by Marvin Sum on Jun 10, 2007 at 04:00 PM

The first snapshots of the banners and decals at Moscone West for this year’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference have appeared at RoughlyDrafted. As expected, the banners depict a very Leopard-focused theme, with messages like “Welcome to WWDC07. Expand your universe” and “Mac OS X Leopard. Rocket fuel for your apps”.

It’s just one more sleep till the big day, so there’s still time for one or two more surprises. The MacBook Pro was recently updated, so it looks like iMac and iLife/iWork updates plus iPhone announcements are possible.
