Breakout clones; get ‘em while they last

by Jake Gaecke on Sep 18, 2008 at 10:09 PM

BreakClassic removed by AtariIt appears that Atari’s legal department has insisted that Apple remove at least three Breakout and Pong clone games from the App Store, according to Touch Arcade.

The first games to go will be BreakClassic and BreakTouch 3D, which are both very similar to Atari’s Breakout. Next up is Super Pong 2 which you can likely guess is a Pong clone.

Some very unfortunate news, I have been asked to remove SuperPong 2 from the App Store at the request of Atari Interactive due to infringements against the pong and breakout copyrights.

If you remember the game Tris at the App Store, then this should sound all too familiar. These developers don’t have the money to take Atari to court, so these apps will be leaving us soon. But, as of the writing of this article, they are still available. If you want any of these, get them while they last.

Product links after the break.

Review: Neverwinter Nights 2

by Kirk Hiner on Jun 16, 2008 at 07:00 AM

Neverwinter Nights 2
Aspyr Media keeps role-playing alive on the Mac by taking over the wildly popular Neverwinter Nights franchise. Neverwinter Nights 2 is bigger, shinier, and an engrossing RPG experience, but it’s not without its share of problems. The new graphics engine gets poorer performance without actually looking any better, the inventory management system bogs down the gameplay, and what should be the simple act of controlling your party has become a mess of mouse clicks and keyboard modifiers. Are the story, the four-character party system and the expanded class/rule set enough to compensate for these growing pains? Head over to Applelinks to find out.
