How to Stop Psystar Dead in Their Tracks
With another new chapter in the Psystar saga, things aren’t all dandy over in Cupertino. The nasty stuff’s about to hit the proverbial fan, so Apple may want to consider their options. But, it looks like Cult of Mac writer Leigh McMullen took care of the thinking, and came up with a seemingly perfect solution.
Read on to hear all about how Apple can stop Psystar with ease.
Psystar “definitely still shipping” its Mac clones.
On Wednesday, Psystar, the company now famous for cheap Mac clones, posted a note to its website stating that even during its ongoing lawsuit from Apple, it will still be shipping Open Computers.

Psystar will fight Apple’s lawsuit
A couple weeks ago I reported that Apple was finally suing Psystar, the small Florida-based computer company that had been selling Mac-clone “Open Computers,” a practice Apple says is in direct violation of the Mac OS X software license agreement.
Psystar responded by saying that Apple was actually making money out of the deal because they purchase every copy of Leopard from the Apple Store at the full retail price.
Now, Psystar has hired a law firm that has beaten Apple before, Carr & Ferrell LLP. The Palo Alto, CA based law firm represented Burst.com in a patent infringement case that it filed against Apple in 2006. Apple ended up having to pay Burst $10 million in order to license its audio and video streaming patents.

Psystar liquidation: Mac clone company HQ for sale
Psystar, makers of Macintosh clones, were recently sued and mugged by Apple. Now, the company is selling their headquarters, which is essentially a large warehouse in Doral, Florida, for $4.6 million. The property, however, is owned by Constructora Canahuati, which have no connection to Psystar. The 47,000 square foot structure is “priced for quick sale” at a price of $97.65 per square foot. The company was originally based in Miami, but soon moved to Doral.
Maybe this will help pay for Psystar’s severe losses.

Apple to Psystar – Your products, please.
In a rather speedy conclusion to the suit Apple brought against Mac-cloning company, Psystar, Apple wants to recall all of the clones that Psystar has sold. The suit, filed July 8th, brought eight claims of copyright infringement, breach of contract, trademark and trade infringement, and unfair competition. A mass product recall such as this will undoubtedly make the company go bankrupt, and, to add insult to injury, Apple wants any and all profits Psystar has made.
Now, please, cover your eyes for the brutal beating Psystar is about to receive. Moral of the story? Don’t cross His Steveness.

We knew it would happen; Apple sues Psystar
When Psystar started shipping their Open Computer in April, most in the tech industry thought it wasn’t a matter of if, but when, Apple would sue them. Apple has always been very protective of their license that only allows Mac OS X to be run on Apple hardware, and will argue in court that the Open Computer, which can run Mac OS X, is in direct violation of that license agreement.
