CheckUp: Monitor the health of your Mac
A few months ago, we reported on the release of CheckUp 1.0 from app4mac, a health monitoring application for our Macs. Now, we bring you good news with the most recent version of this useful program.
For those of you who already know the application, the first two features to notice are the refreshed UI (User Interface) and the price drop. When it came out, CheckUp cost $49; a reasonable price for a well-designed application created to help you keep your Mac in shape, which is not an irrelevant task for anyone who appreciates his computer.
Now, we’ve found an updated version for just $29. It’s a nice price drop, which makes it even more desirable for those of you who wanted to wait, or just decided to pass the first time it came out.
Check out the new and top features after the break.
app4mac releases the first Beta version of Sequence for Mac OS X Leopard
For those of you who don’t want to stop at just screenshots, this is for you. Now that app4mac has released the first beta version of Sequence, you can go so far as to quickly and easily share screenvideos. All images and video clips that are captured can easily be added to the clipboard, or saved as a file, in a format of your choice, and a location of you choice.
Now that you can use Sequence, the job of explaining how to carry out a task on a friend’s computer no longer has to be painstakingly explained. You can show him! The program provides users with multi-threaded code and 64-bit compression. Also, if you have a Mac with a built-in iSight Camera and a microphone, you can record snippets and send them on their way.
Currently, the beta version is available for $9. That price will last until July 4th, when the real deal is released.

CheckUp 1.0 released
We told you about the beta version of CheckUp last year, and today App4mac has announced the release of CheckUp 1.0. For those who didn’t catch what CheckUp is: It’s basically a diagnostic software tool for Mac OS X that is designed to be easy to use, whilst remaining a powerful and advanced tool. CheckUp 1.0 allows you to check the behaviour of your Mac locally, or even another Mac remotely over a network. It can check CPU, memory, hard drives, optical drives and network interfaces. Everything is displayed in an easily readable format and the information is very detailed.
CheckUp is a Mac shareware app and only costs $49, which is a great price for a piece of software that can help maintain your Mac. Licenses of CheckUp can be run on two computers. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later, and a G4 or better processor. The software is Universal Binary, so it will work great on both platforms. If you want to try before you buy, as with all shareware, a trial version is available for download.
