WWDC 2010 dates announced, Verizon iPhone involved?

by Jake Gaecke on Dec 22, 2009 at 12:06 AM

AT&T Death StarEvery year, Apple hosts the Worldwide Developer’s Conference in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Next year’s “Corporate Event” has been booked for June 28th through July 2nd, according to AppleInsider’s keen eye on the Moscone Center Calendar. But why is it so late next year?

You might recall that June has almost become the month when we traditionally welcome the newest version of the iPhone.  The original iPhone was introduced on June 29th, 2007 in the United States on the AT&T network.  You might also know that there’s a three year exclusivity agreement between Apple and AT&T on U.S. soil.  How better to celebrate the three year anniversary than by serving divorce papers?

Hatred for AT&T runs deep, so much so that I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that your most wanted feature of iPhone 4.0 might be Verizon’s network. With WWDC’s dates for next year, it’s very possible that the iPhone might break free of its single network and start supporting Verizon (as well?). Though this could merely be wishful thinking.

While AT&T continues to search for ways to limit its iPhone population’s network features and usage, Verizon has confirmed that their network would be capable of handling the pressure exerted by a rabid mob of iPhone users. They didn’t say they would be offering the handset, but it makes me wonder why they are even stating they could handle it if they truly don’t intend to.

So, how many of you would gladly pay AT&T’s fee for jumping boat to Verizon for the next iPhone? I know I would.

I would be right there with you… AT&T has the worst network on planet EARTH!!!!  All of their advertising full of lies!  I switched over after feeling pressure to change to the iPhone and even though I love the iPhone features, AT&T service is an embarrassment.  The best network, by far, is Verizon!!!!  Consumers should be given the freedom to select the carrier the want to use.
