Woz gets a new Job

by Jake Gaecke on Feb 5, 2009 at 07:10 AM
Steve Wozniak

In these job(s)less times, it’s getting rare to hear that anyone is getting hired. But when you’re Steve Wozniak, maybe it’s a different story. The New York Times published an excellent article about Woz’s new job at Fusion-io, a company that specializes in putting flash memory to work.

He’s already on the advisory board, but Woz will now become the Chief Scientist.  Seems like a strange title to me, but I’d take it anyway. He’ll be helping the three year old company to increase the speed of data storage and retrieval. It’s said that any company that uses large databases could benefit greatly from this product that apparently cuts computational times and costs a mere 10% the price of the competition.

Well, it seems like the Woz has gotten himself a good gig.  But he hasn’t put the thought of returning to Apple out of his mind completely. He says he doesn’t think about it much but would consider it if asked. I’d ask him back, but it’s not up to me.
