Video surfaces of “fake” Mac Mini

We reported on the new Mac Mini image that hit the internet Thursday that had 5 USB ports and a Mini DisplayPort connection on it. I was fairly convinced that it was a pretty good Photoshop job, but now there’s new evidence to back up the original image. Take a look.
So, there’s basically no audio, and nothing to prove that it actually functions. But we can clearly see that the leaked image of the rumored Mac Mini we saw yesterday was likely taken of this object. I’m still not totally convinced that this is the next Mac Mini, but I am fairly convinced this is a video of a real object. Even MacRumorsMacRumors feels that the story behind this video is a little sketchy. Here, read it…
I think I didnt do anything illegal, I didnt sign any NDA or anything like that, lets say I met a guy in a subway who offered me something and I bought it….
This could be a non-working design that Apple didn’t ultimately choose to go with, or some crazed Apple fanatic who wants to start a rumor. Actually, I’m hoping (and thinking) this is the case, because I don’t particularly like the styling seen here. It looks like the same thing we’ve all been buying and loving for years now. Don’t get me wrong, the Mac Mini is great, but it’s time for a real refresh, not just a specs bump. I was hoping one of the earlier rumors dealing with the fully aluminum enclosure would come true, and there’s really nothing stopping that from happening. I sincerely hope this isn’t the final version of the Mac Mini, though if it is, I’ll ultimately buy it and tell myself that at least I got an extra USB port out of the deal.

There’s no way they’d put 5 USB ports and two video ports on a Mac Mini. The row of USB ports looks suspiciously like a OWC Ministack, which was probably one of the sources for the photoshop job.

This might be some kids school project. I get the two video ports. I’ve been wanting the Mini for use as a sort of more powerful AppleTV. I don’t get the 5 USB ports. Who needs 5 ports when we have $10 powered hubs nowadays??
I hate when I ask questions like that, b/c history tends to prove doubters wrong.
