UK iPhone Is £100 Cheaper Today

by Stephen Chinnadorai on Apr 16, 2008 at 04:03 AM

O2 iPhoneAs reported yesterday, the 8GB iPhone in the UK has seen a massive £100 ($200) price drop. This brings the 8GB iPhone price from £269 to £169 - however, there are no plans for cutting the price on the expensive 16GB model - which will remain at £329 for quite some time. There are also no changes in the monthly tariff prices - so the lowest you’ll get is still £35/month.

This reduction is most likely the result of poor iPhone sales in the UK, and the fact that other European countries like Germany have seen significant price cuts in the 8GB model recently. I think it’s great that Apple is finally bringing the iPhone’s price down in the UK. It’s always been very overpriced compared to other smartphones here - especially the monthly tariff from O2. If they could just lower the monthly tariffs by £10, a lot more people would consider it.
