Timex announces the “iPod friendly” iControl Ironman watch

by Robert Nelson on Aug 4, 2007 at 12:34 PM

timex ironman watch icontrolTimex has announced a new “iPod friendly” watch to their already well established Timex Ironman lineup. The new iControl will allow you to fully control your iPod, you can use the play/pause, volume up/down and skip forward or back to a track. The iControl watch works on the 2.4 GHz range and uses a dongle that plugs into your iPod. Gizmodo has posted a great hands on review with the watch.

It seems pretty obvious that this is intended for someone who is going out for some exercise but I suppose it would work just as well for someone who wanted to listen to and control their iPod without having to flash their iPod around. Hey, you can never be to careful when it comes to someone grabbing an expensive item from your hands. Overall this seems like a great idea but I am not sure it offers anything that would make me want to switch from the Nike+ Sport Kit that I currently run with.

The Timex iControl will retail for $125 and will be available at timex.com later this week.
