The iPod shuffle - now available in color

Today’s music-themed event from Apple saw various updates to the iPod touch, iPod nano and also the iPod classic. While the iPod shuffle didn’t receive much attention on stage, it’s worth mentioning the very slight additions it did gain: colors. Five of them to be precise.

Unlike the iPod nano though, the five colors available are all matte. It’s up to yourself as to whether that’s a good thing or not. I’m sure it will be more scratch resistant, but might not look as impressive as a gloss finish. If you’re desperately after an iPod shuffle with a gloss finish, you’ll need to head down to your nearest Apple Store, as there’s a Special Edition iPod shuffle in polished stainless steel available only direct from the Apple Store. The price is unchanged at $59 for the 2GB model, or $79 for 4GB of memory. The Special Edition comes in at $99 for 4GB.

If you were holding off on buying an iPod shuffle in the hope that more colors would become available, now is the time to buy.
