Sub $1,000 Apple notebook receives hardware upgrade

by Josh Holat on Jan 21, 2009 at 03:58 PM

Cheap Apple NotebookWith all the news about Steve Jobs and Tim Cook these past few days, Apple managed to sneakily update their sub $1,000 notebook hardware.  And when I say sub $1,000, I sadly mean the $999 white polycarbonate shell notebook that Apple has kept around. Although the processor has been kept at 2.0GHz and there is no option for a backlit keyboard, the updates still manage to make the cheapest Apple notebook that much more tempting. The laptop now comes standard with 2GB DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card and a 120GB hard drive, as well as the wonderful Mac OS X software we all know and love.

Although it would be nice to see the price of a unibody design drop closer to or below the $1,000 mark, it is nice to have this option when looking to buy a new laptop. Apple’s products aren’t known to be the cheapest around, and I think $999 for this quality of laptop isn’t that bad of a price at all. Be sure to check it out! And just for fun and speculation, how about we really go out on a limb and say that Apple upping the specs of this machine is simply making room for a new, lower end Apple netbook model that they are preparing…you agree?
