Stool waving man destroys laptops

by Greg Healy on Jun 12, 2007 at 12:00 PM

Picture this: you are working as an Apple Genius, helping a man with his iPod woes. When you believe you have adequately solved his problems, he thinks otherwise. You look on in awe as he picks up a stool and begins to destroy your laptop, and then moves on to the next Genius’. Sounds awkward huh? Though apparently there are some Apple store employees in London who actually had to deal with this very thing.

The Apple stores are intended to provide a superior customer experience, but it doesn’t always turn out that way. A visitor to the Regent Street (London) store reportedly brought in his iPod for a problem recently, and the staff worked hard to fix it to the man’s satisfaction. However, the customer didn’t feel his problem had been adequately solved. He reportedly picked up a Genius Bar stool and waved it about, and then destroyed four MacBook Pro laptops with it before he could be subdued. Metro Police officers arrived to arrest the man and take him to jail.

Every workers’ worst nightmare. I highly doubt Apple has a guide in their handbooks on how to deal with a scenario such as this one.
