Rumor: New generation iPod nano will have a larger screen

by Arnold Zafra on Jul 30, 2008 at 07:33 AM

iPod NanoWord on the street says Apple is contemplating releasing the 4th generation iPod nano in a slightly wider size than its first three generations. The increase in size is necessary for the new iPod Nano to have a larger screen than its current 2-inch LCD. The new 4G nano would also have an aspect ratio similar to the iPod Touch.

Now, here’s the interesting part. Given the design of the current nano, the redesign would make it a larger-screened version of the second generation Zune media player. The basic difference would be the 4G nano’s click wheel navigation instead of the Zune’s touchpad.

Other speculation concerning the new iPod nano includes a change in coloring, with the nano possibly reverting to a wrap-around aluminum shell anodized in solid colors. This, in effect, would make the new nano resemble the second-generation nano.

Keep in mind that this is all speculation. But, knowing how rumors about any Apple products are made and circulated, chances are most of these rumors might actually come true. And, with the coming Apple music special event sometime in August or September, who knows? We might actually catch a glimpse of these rumored 4G iPod nanos.
