Rumor: custom ringtones coming for the iPhone

The Apple special event has been confirmed for September 5th and the rumors are now out in full force. We are seeing reports of everything from new touchscreen iPods running OS X to Product (RED) Shuffles to The Beatles finally coming to iTunes.
AlleyInsider is reporting that they have a “well-informed source” that told them we can expect to see a new touch screen iPod that is similar to the iPhone and also a new feature for the iPhone that will allow users to make custom ringtones from their purchased iTunes tracks. The catch to the custom ringtones is that the DRM free Universal tracks are not said to be included in this feature.
Both items would be nice to see, of course I am not going to get excited about the AlleyInsider story, Mac rumors are just that…rumors. They are fun to guess and speculate and often seem to be way off from what actually comes out. September 5th will let us know for sure, in the mean time lets have fun and guess.
