Qik coming to the App Store

Qik live streaming video to the internet from your iPhoneYou heard right. For those of you who aren’t in the know, Qik is a live video streaming and chatting service. Currently, in order to use Qik on a mobile phone, you need to have a Nokia N95 (or other supported cell phone including, but not limited to, a jailbroken iPhone), but that is about to change.

Kevin Rose, one of my favorite semi-accurate sources of Apple rumors, posted a great short video to YouTube about the app that should be hitting the App Store soon. Some key points to listen for are that he expects the app to be free and that it will stream video (and chat) over WiFi or 3G but I’m guessing not EDGE. Here’s Kevin:

I cannot wait to get this app on my iPhone. The ability to easily post live video to the internet is an awesome feature, and a surprisingly tempting reason to upgrade to an iPhone 3G. Who else is excited?
