As usual, many people wanted to interview Steve Jobs after yesterday’s press event to ask him the questions on the top of every Apple fanboy’s mind. This time around, David Pogue’s interview offered some interesting answers to some pretty good questions about Apple and where the company is going.
For instance, Mr. Jobs replied with, “No, I don’t think we’re going to miss a beat. We have some really good stuff coming up,” when asked, “Will there be a break in new products as a result of your absence?” Furthermore, he mentioned that he doesn’t see a need in the market for single function devices like the Kindle (and mentioned how Amazon isn’t overly eager to share their sales numbers with us). These two comments clearly show Apple will continue to innovate the way they always have, and may not be looking to expand into markets such as the tablet anytime soon.
Other interesting things mentioned in the question and answer session involve the hardware announced today. Jobs explained that the iPod nano won’t take stills because the sensors required for this are much too thick to fit in a nano. Furthermore, he mentioned that Apple decided to leave a camera out of the iPod touch because they want to market it as more of a gaming device, as that’s how the market sees it. And last, but not least, Steve mentioned he feels “really good” and is eating a lot of ice cream.
