Psystar seems to think Blu-ray is more than just a “bag of hurt”
We all know Apple (or should I say, Steve Jobs) doesn’t like Blu-ray, as shown in the most recent refresh of their MacBook and MacBook Pro line, but that doesn’t mean their clone, Psystar, can’t like the hi-def goodness. And they are doing a fine job of showing that fact. On Tuesday, October 28th, Psystar, who is still in on ongoing lawsuit with Apple, announced that their Mac OS X PCs will now ship with a Blu-ray drive as well as NVIDIA 9800GT graphics cards. Does this mean anything to Apple, who has yet to include (or not include) Blu-ray drives into their machines? Probably not.
The question now remains; who is making the smarter choice here? Apple seems to think Blu-ray is still too much of a hassle, especially considering many of the struggles coming from trying to get licenses to use the technology. On top of this, it may still be too new to many users, as not a lot of people have been happy to adopt this new technology yet. On the other hand, Pystsar, by adding this technology, has one small advantage over Apple. I’m fully aware that there are plenty of more things to love about a Mac over any clone, but some people may see the Blu-ray drive on a Psystar machine as worth the purchase. Do you?
What are your thoughts on this? Does this pose any serious threat to Apple given the fact that most people probably don’t even know about Psystar, or does it just provide proof that Apple should have included a Blu-ray drive? Let us know in the comments.

Jobs never said that he dislikes blu-ray, only that it’s just expensive regarding licensing.
