Palm Pre syncing and AT&T tethering workaround both broken with Apple updates

As most of you probably know, Apple recently released iPhone 3.1 beta 2 to developers to play with. Along with some bugs fixes and improvements in code, this update features the breaking of the IPCC hack we saw that enabled tethering for AT&T early on the iPhone. Since AT&T won’t be supporting iPhone tethering until later in the year for an undetermined price, this is sort of a bummer for the people who found this workaround useful. I think it is safe to say that once the official 3.1 software is released to the general population of iPhone users, this hack will no longer work.
In other broken software this week, it is being reported that the iTunes 8.2.1 release has broken the Palm Pre’s ability to sync with iTunes. Anybody could have guessed that this was coming, and I’m sure some were surprised that it even took this long. It looks like Palm may have to find another way to market the Pre when it comes to competing against the iPhone. Good luck.
