According to the analysts at Piper Jaffray who put Apple on the list, the decision to add them was three-fold.
The first reason was one that has been recently lowballed by many other research and analysis firms reporting on Apple: Apple’s Back To School promotion, in which participants are entitled to a free iPod Touch, valued at $299.
The second reason for the addition was the recently confirmed September 9th Apple event, which will almost undoubtedly bring redesigned iPods and possibly MacBooks as well.
The final reason, according to the report, is the ever-climbing number of iPhone 3G sales. Apple has almost doubled its number of possible subscribers in the month of August alone, and Piper predicts September and December quarter iPhone sales to exceed 10 million units.
