NYC 3G iPhone line forms. Already.
Remember when the initial iPhone came out and people started waiting in line at the 5th Avenue Apple Store a week before June 29th? Well, it’s happening again. There is already a line of about ten people outside the New York City store waiting for the 3G iPhone that it to come out on July 11th. However, this year some people are taking it to the extreme. According to GearDiary’s Wayne Schulz, “Number one in line is a man and woman with a baby who’ve told the police and security guards that their goal is to set a record for time in line and possibly the first baby to wait with them (or some such nonsense).” Let’s hope they know what they’re doing.
With lines forming this early, it has me wondering whether these people want the iPhone 3G that badly or if they are just looking to soak in a few days of fame. Either way, there are going to be plenty of people all over the world purchasing the iPhone 3G on July 11th. I know I will be standing in line at my local Apple Store even though I already have the first gen iPhone. What do you think about this?
[Update from Michael Goonan: Since these people started sitting outside the Apple Store on Firday, 5 of the 10 people have already left, and the NYPD sent the baby home.]
