Notes to iPhone syncing on the way?

by Jake Gaecke on Aug 16, 2008 at 05:00 AM

Sync between Notes on the desktop and the iPhone
TUAW has uncovered, by way of a tipster, a pretty cool rumor-starting dialog in Mail’s Notes app. Normally, in any text editor on the Mac, highlighting some text and hitting the key combo Command + B will make your text bold. If you try this is Notes, however, you get to start a rumor a dialog box that asks you if you really want to make it bold.

So, where’s the rumor? The dialog warns that you must change from plain to rich text mode, which is needed for bold text. It also mentions that the Note will no longer be editable on the iPhone. So, maybe Apple has some syncing planned in the future between the desktop and iPhone versions of Notes. As an added tip, stay away from bold text; apparently that’s just too much for the iPhone to edit, unless you like static bold text, which you very well might. As for italics, don’t even try it; your Mac will just beep at you.

So, maybe I’ll finally be able to stop sending myself e-mails with text in them as a work around for this feature. It’s a pretty small feature, but I’d like it.
