Sometimes I wonder what the people over at Apple are thinking. Just weeks after Apple launched their fourth Apple Store in the NYC area, reports surface that one of Apple’s 40 stores that will be launching next year, will be in the Upper North Side of NYC. Another one in NYC? They already have their flagship Fifth Avenue Store, as well as the SoHo Store, 14th Street Store and Staten Island outlets. Apple is planning to tear down, and rebuild 1981 Broadway, which is currently the location of an 8500 square-foot Victoria’s Secret. Rent in the area is about $275 - $300 a square foot, which will end up costing Apple a pretty penny. Obviously, if they are looking to open another NYC Apple Store, there must still be customers. Somewhere.
