Snow Leopard

New leaked screen shots and videos posted on a Portuguese website showcase some of the new features we will be seeing in Mac OS X v10.6.  Snow Leopard has been noted for being mostly a stability build to make Mac OS X more dependable, as well as slimming down its size. Therefore, most of the new features that are being added aren’t necessarily groundbreaking, but they are interesting nonetheless.  Some of the new features are detailed below:

  • Put Back - Items in the trash will be placed back into the location they came from originally.
  • Grid View Navigation - When viewing folders in your Dock in grid view, they will now be able to navigate into folders while remaining in grid view.
  • Icon Size - A slider located in the bottom right of Finder windows will be able to quickly alter the icon’s size.
  • Quick Look - PDF and video looking has been refined with the ability to more easily navigate these types of files.
  • Screenshots - New standard name as well as date and time recorded.
  • Dock - Icons can now easily been given a single space to stay in or all spaces.
  • Text - Smart text features and more refined copy and pasting features have been added as well (see video).

Although many of these are minor, some of them should help to make Mac OS X even more usable and user friendly.  I’m happy to hear Apple is taking time to make sure their OS remains stable for the next release, but it is still nice to see some new features while they’re at it.  Are you looking forward to this release?

Yeah- none of the vids work.  Did Apple force them to remove them?

Do we think they’ll still change the appearance before release?

  • oww…its not working..urgh…Maybe they pay the user to remove this video.
