New MacBooks to have Nvidia Nside

by Jake Gaecke on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:05 PM

Nvidia in a MacBook? If TUAW’s sources are to be believed, then the MacBooks coming from Apple may just have Nvidia graphic chips in them.

Their source claims that not only will Apple put an Nvidia chip in the new MacBooks, but Nvidia is already showing these rumored devices to their employees privately. Currently, MacBooks contain integrated graphics, so a non-integrated graphics chip would be a significant upgrade.

Sound a little much to believe? It might be. TUAW points out that this is just another rumor, and may not amount to anything. But October 14th sure is heating up. There are quite a few rumors claiming that’s the date Apple plans to use to refresh at least their MacBooks.

One thing is safe to say about this all.  If you are in the market for buying a new Apple laptop, I’d advise you to wait at least two weeks to see if Apple will update the MacBooks, or even introduce a brand new device to the lineup.

I hope NVidia fixed their overheating problems that’s been causing their mobile chips to fail. Lots of MacBook Pros (including mine) had their motherboards replaced when the video went dead.

If this rumor is true, I’ll finally be getting a MacBook. It’s the one thing that’s held me back since this model was introduced.
