The rumors of new MacBooks just won’t die. MacRumors has some new details on the fabled devices. Citigroup’s Richard Gardner is claiming to have inside information about said MacBooks.
This seems to go along with the rumors that have been circulating about Apple’s updated MacBooks, and their trends in design. Apple has been moving towards the brushed aluminum casings, and carrying that over that to the standard MacBook would further unify the brand image. With the MacBook Air and new iPhone designs as examples, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new MacBook that looks almost identical to the MacBook Air, though likely thicker. LED backlighting is great for battery life and brightness in general. Steve Jobs promised to switch over to it as the industry allowed. And as for the aggressive entry-level price point? I don’t think any of us will complain with that notion.
The only real new information here is that not only are the MacBooks ready to be announced, they supposedly are already shipping to Apple from the factory. I’m actually surprised there isn’t at least some sort of mention to a MacBook Touch anywhere near this rumor.
As always, take this with a grain or two of salt, even though the it doesn’t deviate much from previous rumors. But, if you’re a believer in rumors (and since you made it this far, I’ll assume you are), you won’t have to wait long. The best guess as to when Apple may announce these refreshed MacBooks is October 14th.
