More than one million iPhone 3G Ss sold, Steve Jobs gives a quote

by Josh Holat on Jun 22, 2009 at 12:02 PM
iPhone OS 3.0 Update

In just three days, from Friday to Sunday, Apple is reporting that over one million iPhone 3G Ss have been sold. Not only is that outstanding for a hardware update that offers only two real benefits (camera and improved processor/RAM), it is outstanding in that it sold many more than the Palm Pre on its opening weekend. The iPhone hardware update beat out the first run of the Palm Pre. Sure, the iPhone has had more time in the market, but the Pre was supposed to be highly anticipated. It doesn’t seem as if that it true anymore.

Apple has also announced that there have been over six million downloads of their iPhone OS 3.0 software since its release, as well. For under a week, that is quite a high number, and I’m sure Apple’s servers are feeling a little bit under the weather. What does Steve Jobs have to say about all of this? Although not fully back at work yet, Steve was quoted as saying, “Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning. With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”
