Microsoft creating an iPhone competitor?
A little late to the party, it appears as if Microsoft has finally decided that they, too, want to make their own phone to market and sell. If this rumor is, in fact, true, the device will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra chipset and obviously run some flavor of Windows Mobile. Although that is all we really have for specific details (e.g. touchscreen or not, specifications), the product appears to be slated for announcement at 3GSM in February. If it is announced then and there, it will be interesting to see what Microsoft does in a market that is already dominated by numerous other producers. We doubt it’ll match up to the iPhone.
Although this is purely speculation and rumor, iTnews appears to have already formed their opinion about the device. According to them, Microsoft’s phone will answer the question, “What do you get if you take an iPhone, remove the clean UI, user friendliness, nice industrial design, battery life, cachet, functional OS, and in general everything else that makes it worthwhile?” That’s pretty harsh if you ask me. At any rate, this announcement should be very interesting.

cool this post giving enough information…
on November 25, 2008 at 12:17 PM - LINKYou’re believing a rumor? Wow, you could have at least stated it was a rumor. Rumors rarely turn out true, and I have a hard time believing this one. Though your post would give absolutely no indication of this.
on November 25, 2008 at 10:30 PM - LINK@Quikboy I could have made it more clear, but in the second sentence it says, “If this rumor is… true”
on November 25, 2008 at 10:38 PM - LINKYeah, because it was so unclear that a GIANT “Rumor” in red was needed. C’mon, read slowly.
