Make your iPhone’s camera go zoom

by Stephen Chinnadorai on Aug 18, 2008 at 05:00 PM

iPhone 3G Mobile Phone TelescopeThe iPhone is great, but, let’s face it—the camera isn’t. Boasting a mere two megapixels with fixed focus and no optical or digital zoom, the iPhone isn’t going to let you take shots close-up. However, a new product lets you do something about it: the iPhone 3G Mobile Phone Telescope. Appropriately named, the Mobile Phone Telescope is essentially a telescope that you attach on to your iPhone 3G’s camera, via an acrylic clear case that snaps onto your iPhone 3G.

The Mobile Phone Telescope works similarly to a digital SLR camera when in manual focus mode. You simply twist to precisely adjust the zoom level, and then manually focus and take your photo. The accessory claims to offer a 6x optical zoom for your iPhone 3G. For $19, this is not a bad accessory at all, and it could just get you the perfect photo when all you have with you is your iPhone.
