Apple’s relatively new Magic Mouse offers some great new technologies that allow users to enjoy the benefits of multi touch without needing to have a MacBook’s trackpad. However, the built in gestures from Apple may not be enough for some users, and there is currently no way to create your own through Apple’s software. That said, a new little utility by the name of MouseWizard for Mac will “... give your Magic Mouse two extra buttons, ‘pinch’ and ‘bloat’ trackpad gestures, and special features such as ‘coverup’, to make your Mac go to sleep.” So if you find these extra gestures useful, head on over to their site and try out the demo. If you like it, it only costs $2.50 to make it your own.
Like MouseWizard, Apple’s Magic Mouse is currently only supported on Macs unfortunately. Whether this is because Apple has taken the time to create a Windows driver or they simply want to keep the Magic Mouse another benefit only available to Mac users is unknown. Either way, it doesn’t really matter as the people over at UneasySilence have extracted part of the mouse’s last update from Apple and enabled both a 32bit and 64bit Windows driver. Therefore, if you’re using Windows and want some multitouch sweetness, this may be a good option for you.
