Macintosh

  • Regular Rate and Rhythm Software have announced Rowmote Pro 2.2, a major update to their complete remote control solution for Mac OS X and Apple TV. Rowmote Pro emulates the Apple hardware remote control, providing application-specific controls through a consistent interface, while also featuring a multitouch trackpad and keyboard. Version 2.2 adds direct control over Movst, OpenOffice Impress, and PandoraBoy and expands the wireless keyboard to include function and arrow keys.
  • Open Door Networks Inc. has announced that it is now shipping a major update to its DoorStop line of Internet security products for Mac OS X. The update focuses on features and information for Apple’s new Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) operating system as well as the iPhone, and adds a Twitter stream and other customer-requested items.
  • app4mac has released SecretBox 2 for Mac OS X, iPhone and iPod touch. SecretBox allows you to keep your secrets in a safe place. It uses the industry standard 256-bit AES encryption to protect your data. The new version bring a new user interface, a major rewrite of the code, an improved security and more options for import/export. Most people will use SecretBox for personal use, but businesses can also use SecretBox for managing software licenses.
  • Freeverse announced an update to Sound Studio’s Monbots, free automation tools available for the popular audio editing and sound creation Mac application developed by Felt Tip Software. Monbots are now compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Monbots are a collection of absolutely free automation tools that help you perform complex tasks on multiple sound files. Examples include the Clean & Convert plug-in, which scrubs your audio clean with Noise Gate and Dynamics Compression; Mastering Console, which makes your audio sparkle using Equalization Curves, High and Low Pass Filters, Reverb, Fade and More Cowbell; Bookend Audio, which lets you add an intro and outro; and Stitch, which does the dirty work of combining multiple audio files together with none of the hassle.
  • Gracion Software LLC has released Gracion Enclose 1.1 for OS X. Gracion Enclose sends large files without the limitations of email attachments. Files dragged to Enclose are uploaded to the server of your choice (such as MobileMe or your web server) while creating a templated email in one step. To receive a file, recipients don’t need to visit a special web site or install software. They simply click a link in each email to display or download the file through their own web browsers.
  • Mac-Chi has announced WhoPaste 3.3 which features flexible multi-user licensing. The new WhoPaste licenses can be installed on any supported Mac, can be transferred to another Mac, and can even be remotely deactivated. All current WhoPaste customers can upgrade their original license to a new license at no charge. WhoPaste is a powerful front-end for Daylite, Google Contacts, Entourage, and Address Book.
  • Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 4.1.6, a maintenance update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. LinkOptimizer allows users to reduce InDesign job size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data, performing essential image adjustments and converting file formats. The new version addresses several performance and stability issues related to settings presets, user interface and image processing.
  • QuickerTek has announced a new Dual USB device which can run at 802.11a which is 5.8GHz and 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz. This USB device adds high speed wireless to any Mac with an open USB port running at least 10.4.x through 10.6. The 802.11a standard is the highest speed wireless available anywhere, working with 5.8GHz provides up to 300Mbps twice as fast as 802.11n which provides up to 130Mbps.

iPhone/iPod

  • Ocarina Spirit v2 brings an exciting new feature—the ability to play more than 20 different sounds of instruments, like the guitar, the piano, the Indian sitar, the harmonica, the bass, the violin, etc. It also features a completely revised interface with intuitive icons and the ability to record the song you are playing. Available for the iPhone and iPod touch 2nd gen, Ocarina Spirit v2 is free for a short time only.
  • Elements2Dance has announced songvoo 1.1, their updated iPod music player app for iPhone and iPod Touch. This update adds many groundbreaking features including Facebook integration, shape gestures, 15,000 theme combinations, Intro-Outro skipping, and a streamlined interface. songvoo serves as a great iPod companion for both casual user and music professionals alike, or anyone who has a large, constantly changing music collection to stay on top of.
  • Nanaimo Studio has introduced Idea Organizer 1.0, their new free-form note taking and organizer utility for iPhone and iPod touch. Developed specifically to take advantage of the iPhone’s unique capabilities and interface, Idea Organizer is a simple yet powerful tool that lets anyone quickly record their ideas, reminders and notes in whatever form that suits them the most. It aims to be the perfect tool to safe-keep clever ideas, gift reminders, school or meeting notes, and more.
  • Press Start LLC has announced 4Notes 1.0, their taking application for iPhone and iPod touch. 4Notes offers a combination of features which allow users access to their notes from anywhere, including their iPhone/iPod touch, the internet, and their email. With fast syncing, real-time search, the ability to email notes, and more, 4Notes is an incredible application for anyone wanting a better note taking experience on their iPhone/iPod touch.
  • Volutopia has launched SculptMaster 3D 1.1.0, a major update to world’s first digital sculpting and painting application for iPhone and iPod touch. Previously only seen on high-end PCs, SculptMaster 3D brings full volumetric sculpting capabilities to mobile devices, allowing artists to experiment and sketch on the go. Using the export features, work can be easily continued later on a computer, enabling a whole new level of productivity.
  • Vocalia, Creaceed’s speech recognition application for the iPhone, is now available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.
  • Independent software developer Steve Glinberg has announced KidCalc 1.6, an update to his popular animated math flash cards and learning game for iPhone and iPod touch. Designed specifically to leverage the iPhone’s peerless interface, KidCalc helps teach math to children, ages 3-8 years, using Halloween themed graphics, engaging animations and voice-overs by a child. KidCalc is now four apps in one, including animated math flash cards, math drills, counting games, and an animated calculator.
  • Former NFL player Tony Mandarich has launched BoxScore Babes, the ultimate NFL fan application, providing a live, streaming NFL score feed alongside images of bikini, fitness, and lingerie models. Check out the pictures in gallery mode, with 9 images on the screen, or scroll through the images in full-screen mode. Each image is downloadable to your iPhone or iTouch. Want to find your team’s score fast? Just click on the “score” button to see a full page of current scores.
