Macintosh

  • Houdah Software has announced the immediate availability of HoudahGeo 2.2, the premiere photo geocoding solution for the Mac. HoudahGeo 2.2 allows for geocoding photos hosted in an iPhoto’09 library by being able to write to the Places database. HoudahGeo brings GPS enabled geocoding and Google Earth geocoding to iPhoto. Version 2.2 is a major upgrade and is recommended for all Tiger and Leopard users. This upgrade is free to registered users.
  • Address Book Server has announced their new service for Address Book and iCal. Share your contacts, events and task with other Mac users on your network via Address Book and Calendar Server. The contacts on the Address Book and Calendar Server is kept up-to-date, as changes are automatically synchronised in real time. No need for subscription or monthly fees. With Address Book Server you are in control of your contacts.
  • REALbasic Developer Magazine today announced the reprinting of its first five years of issues into convenient perfect-bound books which will be shipping in May. REALbasic Developer is renown around the world as the premiere source of REALbasic instruction, tutorials, and programming advice. Each 300 page book contains the full contents of one year of the magazine. Pre-orders of RBD Archive Volume 1-5 save 25% through April 20, 2009.
  • Malkinware has announced Reference Tracker 1.2, an update to their academic reference manager and research tool for Mac OS X. Reference Tracker documents store all the citations and references in an essay, research project, or book and creates reference lists in a variety of formats when needed. Features include lookup of book details, single-click extraction for references from web pages, and more. Version 1.2 sports new features and is a recommended update for all users.
  • Synium Software has announced Screenium 1.1. The important update boosts a redesigned, still more powerful capturing engine and adds new features to the popular audio and video productivity tool: configurable Mouse Effects, Dock Activity Indicators, as well as optimized YouTube and iPhone Export workflows. And the whole package has meanwhile become a true polyglot, with Spanish and Dutch as the most recent languages added on top of English, French, German and Italian.
  • MediaSilo is announcing a major update to its suite of online video tools. Version 2.0 marks a shift to a plug-in architecture for the pioneer in SAS workflow for high-end video production. The new release, set to debut at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas April 20-23 (booth SL9512), includes integrated plug-ins for production workflow, comprehensive metadata management and upgraded features within MediaSilo’s core collaboration tools and an advanced program interface.
  • Get all of the thrills, chills and combo kills at half the price! Hothead Games today announced that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is available on multiple digital distribution platforms at a discounted price now through April 12. Gamers may purchase the Windows, Mac and Linux versions via the indie digital distribution service Greenhouse for under $10, and Xbox LIVE Gold members can experience the game named “Best Xbox LIVE RPG of 2008” by IGN.com for only 800 Microsoft points.
  • Group Logic, Inc. announced today its new Enterprise License Program for Education (ELP-EDU) for ExtremeZ-IP, its industry-leading software solution for seamlessly integrating Mac desktops into Window server environments. The ELP-EDU licensing program allows K-12 and higher education customers worldwide to procure and deploy ExtremeZ-IP across an entire school, campus and/or system with a single license key and support contract.
  • ATTO Technology today announced a new addition to their FastStream Storage Controller line. The FastStream SC 8200 is an easy-to-use storage controller that provides 6-Gigabit SAS host connectivity and 3-Gigabit SAS/SATA drive connectivity with high-performance RAID protection and advanced storage management features. The FastStream SC 8200 is provided in two versions; an external rackmount/desktop appliance and an embeddable RAID controller.

iPhone/iPod

  • Crowded Road has released Connect toll-free number automation for iPhone. Automatically connect to a live operator or to any major department for almost 1,000 of the most popular US companies.
  • Hot Radar, an ice breaker app from MyAppCompany, is available for free for a limited time. Its purpose is to get the attention of someone you want to talk to but might be too shy to approach, by making a fast pinging noise as you get closer to your “target.”
  • Izatt International has announced a new Objective-C iPhone Course to be held April 17-18, 2009 at the Noah Building in South Jordan, UT. For those wanting to enter the world of iPhone development, Objective-C is the key. This course is designed for those with object-oriented programming experience, but little or none with Objective-C. The course is two hours on a Friday evening, followed by a full Saturday.
  • Mekentosj BV has announced a significant update to Papers for iPhone and iPod touch. Papers puts your entire research literature database in your pocket, available at your fingertips wherever you go; whether you’re at a conference, in class, visiting your peers, or on the road. Version 1.1 now allows you to search your articles, authors and journals. It adds two new search engines and additional features.
