Macintosh

  • Other World Computing (OWC) has announced today that it is now shipping a full line of high performance multi-channel 1066MHz DDR3 72-bit ECC memory upgrades up to 32GB for the 2009 Mac Pro “Nehalem” models. OWC Memory Upgrades provide Mac Pro users up to 70% in savings, as well as up to three 4GB module-based upgrades not offered by the factory: 12GB (3 x 4GB), 16GB (4 x 4GB), and 24GB (6 x 4GB, 8-Core models only).   • Developer Mark Morris has announced PhotoUpLink 1.2 for iPhoto. This iPhoto plugin enables S/FTP, ODBC, and Office export, and now includes the ability to export over WiFi to any iPhone or iPod Touch running PhotoUpLink. Exported photos will show up in the Camera Roll album on an iPhone, or in the Saved Photos album on an iPod Touch. All users of PhotoUpLink who have upgraded to iLife ‘09 also should download the new version for continued functionality, and access to new features.
  • Austin-Soft has announced the immediate availability of Day-n-Night for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Day-n-Night displays the beauty of the Earth, showing a smooth combination of day and night images, including a mix of the daylight and nighttime images during twilight along the sun’s shadow. Day-n-Night offers a clean and uncluttered user interface, allowing you to zoom into the map and view the approach of sunlight or shadow across the face of your iPhone.
  • Wonder Warp Software has released a new iPhone version of its popular Mac productivity software ShoveBox. You can then slap your character by swiping your finger across their picture and it will seamlessly transition between the images you’ve selected, providing quite an enjoyable slapping effect. A variation of slapping sound effects, based on the speed you slap, add to the fun. And to make things even more interesting, you can add captions for the character to say back to you as you slap them!
  • AdMob is addressing one of the biggest challenges facing iPhone application developers with today’s launch of the AdMob iPhone Download Exchange. This new service gives developers a unique way to increase consumer awareness and downloads of their iPhone applications. AdMob already works with a network of more than 1,000 iPhone applications to help them effectively monetize and engage with consumers.
