Macintosh/iPhone software update round-up - Macworld Expo Week

Macintosh and iPhone Software UpdatesThere were far too many product updates/releases over the week of Macworld Expo for us to cover, as we were busy hitting the show floor. Check our Macworld coverage for details on what went down at the Moscone Center. Here are some highlights from what we didn’t cover:

  • Coladia has announced that point and click adventure games Destination: Treasure Island and Cleopatra: a Queen’s Destiny, are coming to MacOS X and the iPhone. Coladia has signed a publishing and distribution agreement with Nobilis and Kheops Studio to port more adventure games on the Mac platform and the iPhone in 2009.
  • WaterField Designs has announcesd a new, custom-fitted, protective SleeveCase for the 17-inch aluminum MacBook Pro. WaterField Designs manufactures in San Francisco enabling them to design and ship custom cases for new electronic devices lightning fast. The new size 17-3 SleeveCase is available now for pre-order from www.sfbags.com and will ship January 16, 2009. WaterField also offers a 17-inch MacBook Pro compatible Suede Jacket Sleeve, HardCase and Racer-X.
  • Nuclear Nova Software has announced Escape, their classic 2D puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. By leveraging the iPhone’s unique abilities and interface, Escape offers addicting gameplay with challenging puzzles that will keep you occupied for hours. Escape features 60 levels, while the free ad supported Escape lite has a selected 12 levels. Escape is currently on a 40% off limited time early bird sale.
  • Griffin Technology Inc., has announced the SmartTalk Bluetooth headset. This new headset from Griffin incorporates STEP Labs’ STEPvoice acoustic voice separation technology to eliminate background noise, reduce wind noise, and improve voice quality. This means phenomenally clear, hands-free conversations, even under noisy, real-world conditions.
  • TOM BIHN is offering nine backpacks, briefcases, and messenger bags to fit Apple’s new 17” aluminum MacBook Pro, including the following bags: The Checkpoint Flyer, The Brain Cell, and The Super Ego. TOM BIHN products are available for order with worldwide shipping at the company’s website.
  • Disk Doctors Mac Data Recovery software for Apple Mac has been announced by Disk Doctor Labs, Inc. The software is compatible with Mac OS X Leopard and Tiger and is a stand-alone software solution, which supports both Power PC and Intel based Apple Mac computers. The product provides recovery from Hard Drives, Camera/Flash cards, Firewire drives, and USB drives that includes LaCie, iOmega, Seagate, Maxtor, G-drive and other popular storages.
  • nova media has unveiled a new version of iSync plugins for Mac OS X with support of recent cell phones from Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. iSync plugins allows cell phone owners to synchronise contacts and dates between a cell phone and Mac OS X even if their phone model is not yet supported by iSync. The application now supports English, French and German.
  • Aquafadas has announced the immediate availability of version 2.0 of PulpMotion animation software. PulpMotion V2 comes with a lot of new features and more than 25 themes and 80 presets. With a simple drag and drop become a pro slideshow creator and share your best moment with your familly, friends or colleagues. PulpMotion V2 makes it easy to animate your pictures and video, and comes with an extensive set of export functionalities.
  • Griffin Technology Inc., has announced the availability of its Navigate inline controller and iFM app for iPhone and iPod touch. Navigate delivers FM stereo radio and offers a remote control for any recent-generation iPod or iPhone model. The iFM app can be used as a companion to any FM radio to display song titles, program information, etc.
  • Zerion Software has released Rochambeau, their Rock-Paper-Scissors game for iPhone and iPod Touch. The new game is based on the classic version of game play, but is far from the run-of-the-mill variety. Choose one of the cartoon characters and play against the capable computer adversary, or one of your friends on your AIM buddy list.
  • Monsoon Multimedia has announced the HAVA Player for Apple Inc.‘s iPhone. The HAVA Player for iPhone allows HAVA customers to view and control their home television and services, including satellite and TiVo, from anywhere in the world.
  • Parallels has announced the general availability of an updated version of Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac (Build 3810), its market-leading desktop virtualization software for running Windows and more than 50 other operating systems on a Mac. Since its launch in November, more than 300,000 copies of Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac have been downloaded. All registered users of this version qualify for the free update, which will be available online and via the product’s AutoUpdater feature. The update results from Parallels’ commitment to constantly enhancing this premium solution to meet the growing demands and requirements of its 1.5 million users.
  • MacMod, in partnership with iFixit, has announced the Mod of the Year award for 2008. This award is given to the Mac-related modification that best captures the imagination of a panel of judges who must rate it based on creativity, difficulty, and functionality. This year the Mod of the Year is a pre-AGP Macintosh hacked to run Leopard.
  • Goya Pty Ltd is pleased to announce the release of BaseElements 2.5.0. BaseElements is a FileMaker developer tool to analyze and document FileMaker database solutions. BaseElements provides a cross reference of every element in a solution and helps developers find and fix errors, track issues, document changes, and plan future development.
