• Altomac announced today the release of Hide Folders 2008, a freeware program for Mac OS X dedicated to protect documents and folders. With a click, conceals files and folders with all their contents. The program is simple and natural to use because it works just as Mac users are used to do things everyday with their Macs. With this program Mac users can protect their files avoiding them to be being modified, seen or erased by other users using the same Mac account.
• Destineer’s MacSoft unit announces today that Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties, the second expansion pack for Ensemble Studios’ award-winning strategy game, has gone gold and is headed to Macintosh computers with new playable Civilizations, new units, campaigns, game modes, and more.
• Popular Mac-only game publisher, Red Marble Games, today announced the release of Positech Games’ popular political strategy sim, Democracy 2, for the Macintosh. Unique, with a deep and accurate simulation, Democracy 2 is a compelling update to the top-selling original game.
• Tim Grey’s newest publication, Take Your Best Shot—which is devoted to answering digital photographers’ questions—is now available from O’Reilly.
• MildMannered Industries has announced Baseline 1.3, an update to their highly rated disk usage utility for Mac OS X. Baseline is a disk sizing utility that allows users to see at-a-glance exactly how much disk space has been used. As well as showing how much disk space each file or folder takes up, Baseline allows users to compare their hard disk against previous scans to show what has changed.
