MacBook Pro users have been waiting a long time for an update to Apple’s pro laptop lineup. Now within the last week, there are many signs pointing to new MacBook Pros Tuesday. Earlier in the month, it was rumored that Apple would be having a press event on Tuesday. It seems that that was in fact true, but Apple has decided to push it back, as the iPhone SDK, which was scheduled for the rapidly approaching end of February, was the main attraction and most likely will not be ready tomorrow.
AppleInsider reported Monday that new MacBook Pro part numbers are cropping up in both Apple and Best Buy inventories: MB402LL/A (Good), MB403LL/A (Better), and MB404LL/A (Best). They are priced starting at $1999, the same price structure as before. Just to throw a wrench in things, it seems that the part number may in fact correspond to an update to the consumer level MacBooks, another much-needed update. The part numbers indicate in stock as soon as the 29th, which leads AppleInsider to believe there will be an announcement tomorrow.
The new MacBook Pros will likely sport similar clock speeds to the current ones, but a faster chipset, a multi-touch trackpad as in the MacBook Air, and perhaps it will gain a MacBook Air-esque keyboard. Hopefully, if this is the case (and it is likely, as Apple has been making obvious moves to unify all of their keyboard layouts) they make he keys aluminum instead of black.
