If you were one of the first to plunk down $1800 for Apple’s newest notebook - the MacBook Air - today is your lucky day. They have started to ship from Apple’s factories as of last night, and are scheduled to arrive on Friday for some customers. The NY Times, WSJ, USA Today, and Newsweek tech columnists have already been fortunate to have had their hands on the MacBook Air for a couple weeks now, and have published their reviews.
The overall consensus is that it does everything that Apple claimed it did. It is unbelievably thin, has an awesome screen and keyboard, and lived up to the battery claims. However, there are some trade-offs that the MacBook Air has made - no Ethernet port, no optical drive, and only 1 USB port. If you are considering buying one of these beauties, just made sure the trade-offs aren’t deal-killers.
