Mac OS X Snow Leopard reaches “Gold Master” status

Snow Leopard

People are talking about the current status of build 10A432 for Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the new operating system that Apple will be shipping to their customers sometime in September. According to many, this build, which came after build 10A421a, has been designated as the “Gold Master.” In the software development field, this means that Snow Leopard has been tested enough by developers and consumers to make it nearly ready to ship. From there, it will be rapidly reproduced and made widely available on probably the last day of September.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard promises to be a nice update to the current Leopard OS. While there aren’t many improvements of the user interface and new features, Apple has promised that 10.6 will make up for this under the hood, where an emphasis has been placed on saving space while making it more robust and increasing speed. Hopefully, it isn’t one to disappoint, as Microsoft’s Windows 7 also appears as if it will be a very good operating system.

Oh, and you’re welcome to pre-order Snow Leopard from Amazon if you so choose.
