Kevin Rose says copy and paste with iPhone OS 3.0

Kevin Rose Diggnation iPhone OS 3.0 copy and paste

During the latest live taping of Diggnation, Kevin Rose went on record by stating that Apple will finally be including copy and paste functionality with iPhone OS 3.0. Mr. Rose has a fairly decent track record when it comes to breaking some Apple rumors, so when you combine that with the necessity of copy and paste on what is already the world’s best phone (albeit with flaws), you start to believe.

Kevin went on to describe just how it will work, as well. Apparently, you just double tap a word to select it, pinch to make a selection and hit copy or cut. Personally, this sounds like a bad gesture for this process. How will the iPhone be able to tell if you are double tapping to zoom to fit, or if you are doing it to copy some text on a webpage? I do like that double tapping will select a word, though, just like on a Mac with a mouse; that much makes sense. But another problem is that this is could be be extremely clumsy to copy a link, or a picture, etc. Can it copy an image, or is it limited to text?

Rose thinks iPhone OS 3.0 will have more than enough features to compete with the Palm Pre. Sadly, he said Apple still doesn’t intend to allow background processes…yet. I guess you always need something to look forward to.

Raise your hand if you’re anxious for Tuesday. Okay, everyone can put their hand down now.

Here’s a clip of Kevin and the rumor on Diggnation. Warning, it comes with more than enough adult language for your virgin ears. Definitely not safe for work.
