Joost comes to iPhone, brings plethora of videos

by Josh Holat on Dec 1, 2008 at 08:11 PM

Joost iPhone ApplicationJoost, a sizable company with premium video content, has created their very own iPhone application for the iTunes App Store. This piece of software will give you access to Joost’s large database of content, containing 46,000 items, including 18,000 music videos, 400 TV series and 1,200 movies and short films. And the best part about that is the price: 100% free. The application itself provides users with the entire Joost catalog, but the streaming only works over Wifi, which is a big downer so far with the app.

That said, when you are on Wifi, this seems like a great alternative to Apple’s YouTube application. Although YouTube and its notoriously varying quality of video clips provide their own sort of entertainment, Joost brings a more premium quality of video (however, YouTube’s inclusion of full feature movies at 16:9 ratio may change that). Either way, since this app is free, I suggest you head on over to the App Store and check it out, you may be surprised with what you can find.  The interface looks slick, and even contains its own variation of Apple’s Quicktime controls.
