iTunes Podcast gems: part 1

Probably one of the best features of iTunes and the iTunes store is the convenient access to thousands of free audio and video podcasts.  With so many viewing and listening choices, where does one start? Here are a few of my recommendations:

  • NBC Nightly News: Full-length, high quality video of the evening news with Brian Williams, whenever you are ready to watch it. Generally commercial free, except for a 10 or 15 second plug for other NBC podcasts during the normal TV commercial time.
  • Apple Keynotes: The must-have subscription for Apple fanboys. Every time Steve Jobs takes the stage at Macworld or WWDC, iTunes will download the full-length keynote in high quality for your Front-Row viewing pleasure.
  • Circuits with David Pogue: A bi-weekly video podcast from the quirky New York Times personal technology columnist himself. Usually features a review and demonstration of some sort of cool new gadget. Pogue is a well known Mac fanboy. An example of his work for those who would like to see:
  • The Alan Colmes Show: A great political talk radio program by Fox News’ Alan Colmes.
  • NPR Sports with Frank Deford: Great weekly sports commentary that Sports Illustrated’s Frank Deford does for NPR every Wednesday. He brings a refreshing intellectual perspective to sports commentary that is unique and entertaining.

These are just a few of my personal favorites, and there are lots of others out there for people with all sorts of interests. This is a feature of iTunes that you really should be sure to check out if you haven’t already.
