iSlayer wants you to monitor your Mac from your iPhone

by Josh Holat on Jul 7, 2008 at 12:39 PM

iStat RemoteThose lucky guys over at Ars Technica got their hands on an iSlayer iPhone app that has yet to be released to the public. Although Ars points out that this app won’t be ready in time for the App Stores debut, it looks super geeky and awesome. Dubbed iStat Remote, this native application will allow you to monitor your Mac from anywhere you can imagine. Using SSL over the internet or Bonjour over your local network, you will be able to see your Mac’s CPU, disk activity, network usage, component temperatures, and more.

Although one might think this application would drain your data caps right out the window and drive your phone bill to the sky, Marc Edwards, an iSlayer team member, assures us it won’t. “Bandwidth used is extremely low. Less than 1MB per hour if you leave the app running on the iPhone,” he says. And although the interface actually looks pretty good from the screen shots over at Ars, Edwards added that they are “...far from the final UI.” Once released, this app will be getting my money/donation.
