iPod 5G gets an update to 1.3
It’s been a while since anyone has talked about the 5G iPod. But today, the 5G iPod gets a new firmware update: 1.3. Of course, this update contains the usual “bug fixes” - that’s about all we know about the update so far - no new features have been discovered. If you have a 5G iPod, when you connect it to iTunes, you will see a message reminding you to upgrade; however the software is not on Apple’s website yet.
My guess is that these are probably minor fixes to some new iTunes features like movie rentals, possibly for future movie rentals in other parts of the world. If any of our readers have installed the update on their 5G iPod and discover anything different, please let us know by commenting.

Good !
on March 15, 2008 at 09:56 AM - LINKI noticed two changes
on March 16, 2008 at 07:00 AM - LINK1. In the sorting of the songs, symbols like () are automatically ignored.
2. In the settings menu, in the time zone, there were some time zones that were absent there although there were present in the clock. Now these missing time zones are present (Like Chennai and Kathmandu).
I also noticed quicker response time. It was quickly tapping through menus and usually my ipod freezes, but this time it didn’t. Not that important as nobody does it that fast, but it’s something.
on March 17, 2008 at 01:54 AM - LINKI have noticed that now when I start/restart my Ipod I get NO songs to display… every update they make screws it up worse and worse…It’s almost like they want you to come to their store. Apple is beginning to look bad…
on May 16, 2008 at 09:18 AM - LINKI can’t sync my ipod past the letter “L” in artists
on November 25, 2008 at 11:54 AM - LINK@WTF @john I’m in pain too.
I can’t seem to upload videos that were encoded using the SAME software and the SAME DVDs. for example, I can put The Office S03E04 but not S03E05. and both were, of course, ripped at once from the DVD I rented (there’s no iTunes store in my country, mind you).
if I restore my iPod - something I’ve done a gazillion times this week - I get to put different videos in it. but I can never have all of them.
it’s different with songs - but still annoying: if I keep insisting, I slowly jam in more and more of them. but it’s an absolute pain in the arse.
it’s werid, because I’ve never gotten this kind of problem before. of course the upgrade is to blame. the improvements are irrelevant and, like any rubbish Apple spits out, there’s hordes of brown-nose geeks lining up to kiss Steve Jobs’ butt in a seemingly religious trance.
anyway, to wrap things up: if I knew it, I would NEVER have run this update.
