iPhoto ‘09 adds Face recognition

by Bill Stiteler on Jan 6, 2009 at 12:49 PM

ilife 09 bannerAt today’s Philnote, Apple announced the addition of “Faces,” face-recognition software for the new iPhoto ‘09. The software will allow users to tag a person’s face in a picture (by drawing a box around it). Faces will then attempt to identify other pictures with the same person. iPhoto will then create a page for that person (similar to a smart folder).

In addition, since iPhoto ‘09 features integration with Facebook, people who have already been tagged from the social media website will have that info integrated with the iPhoto data. iPhoto ‘09 will also include features for geotagging (dubbed “Places” by The Phil). No word yet on pricing.
